Can somebody give me specs on a long action mag bolt face specifically magazine parameters on a 7mm RM and options for lengthing if possible and build options?

I have a question that goes with Jakes'. Does a push feed barrel have the same threads as a CF and if I had a PF barrel could I have smith cut in the notch so it would work on a CF.
Jake I know you can add a longer box and I thought I've heard that the bolt stop can be resized. I have a Mod 70 300RUM & 338RM action and I'll take some measurements for you.

Jake, the 7mm Rem Mag, 300 and 338 and the 264 all run a 3.4" mag box. It is easily swapped out with an H&H or RUM length box to give you a 3.6" length mag box. You may have to take a little material off of the bolt stop in order to allow the bolt to go back further to pick up the round. Really, it is about 40 dollars worth of parts.

As for the bolt face, it is .532" I believe, so you can run RUM, the Nosler case, WSM's and anything else that runs off of it.

Pretty easy to get the parts as well. Call to Winchester parts will have you running pretty fast.

I'm assuming you learned this on your Newton Scotty?

Scotty , question then ?
My 7STW is a Mdl 70 Black Shadow aka WalMart special.
It started life as a 7RM and I had it reamed to 7STW.
Are you saying there is a longer mag box that will fit this action and get me a little more OAL ?
I am already loading to an OAL of 3.590. SAAMI spec on the STW is 3.360
Seriously hampers my ability to play with seating depth.

Howard, if you have 3.590 now, the only way to go longer is the Wyatt box mag and you'll for sure have to trim the bolt stop.

Wyatt's MB8 box will let you run max 3.825 COAL and it will require milling the action and grinding the bolt stop as well as the ejector. I would definitely look at this if you want to run heavy for caliber bullets in a 3.6" round. The 3.7" box would most likely work for any 3.3" round(26 Nosler) .

Stop suggesting evil thoughts. I don't need my mind working like that.

Oh........ I'm sorry Jake  I thought that maybe you were thinking along the same lines as me  .

Yeah maybe. Be a slick mountain gun. 26" FW contour fluted in a B&C or Micky Edge. See there you go again Scott!

Man, that wouldn't be hard to take. Getting pretty keen on nice handling rifles that have the ability to hunt elk out to 500-600 yards. While it's nice to have those big boomers for long distance stuff, a nice handling sporter is pretty nice sounding...

That is why my 338 gets so much time. It just works..

I don't need any help with the proliferation of ideas. I'm quite adept at digging my own holes to build out of.

Just think of the cool factor of being the first kid on the block to own a M70 in 26Nosler. 8) Wow that would give me goose bumps.

That would be pretty cool, but man, I would be torn between the Nosler and 264 Win Mag.. Both are such incredible cartridges. All this talk makes me wanna get out and run some rounds thru mine.. It'd be nice to slay a coyote or two with it as well.. That rifle is begging for a chance to hunt, just hasn't gotten off the bench yet..

Scotty, had a couple of Yotes hanging around before this last deep freeze set in. They were running threw my yard and playing in the field behind my house. Got my 257 Rob out of the safe and haven't seen them since. :(
