I,ve used a considerable amount of both in the .270. To me the real difference is that the IMR 4831 will do anything H4831 will with around three grains less powder. When using long bullets like the 140 AccuBond and the 140 BT the IMR version can leave you with more room in the case to seat the long bullets deep enough to fit the mag. My personal preference in general is IMR for 22 inch barrels and H4831 for longer barrels. Both powders will generate true .270 velocity with excellent accuracy.
