Some great people allowed me to hunt their land in Wyoming! I was watching a nice, wide 4x4 mulie at about 350 yards when this fellow surprised me by strolling up at short range... A fellow just can't turn down a gift like that.

Regards, Guy

Nice buck Guy, congratulations.
Did you roll him with your 25-06?

Rifle is my favorite .25-06 Rem 700 CDL, topped with a 4.5-14x Leupold. I've adjusted the trigger a little, but otherwise the rifle is as Remington built it. Interestingly, it's never shifted zero after initial sight in at 300 yards about three years ago. That's after shooting in summer heat as well as in the winter, and hunting in rain and snow. Not bad for a non-bedded factory rifle in a walnut stock.

Load. Ahem, this being a Nosler forum, I'm almost reluctant to admit that I used a bullet from Brand B, a little 100 gr Barnes TSX loaded over 53 gr of H4350 for 3340 fps... I worked up that load when the rifle was brand new and it shoots great, so I've been reluctant to change anything. Two decent mulies with the same load and rifle now and I'm notorious for changing everything after I've had success with one combo. I haven't even gotten around to trying any Nosler bullets from this rifle. Terminal results from the Brand B bullet were impressive, instant drop in place, a few kicks and that was it. Heart was literally ripped in half. Bullet exited into the Wyoming dirt & rocks. Broke bones on the way in and out.

Okay, okay, I promise I'll try those 110 grain Accubonds one of these days!

BTW - saw bison, pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep too! Kind of hard to tell from the photo, but he's actually a 4x4 plus the eyeguards. Everyone was calling him a 5x5, but I'm reluctant to count the eyeguards. Young deer, I think 3.5 years old. Maybe I should have held out for a monster, but I'm happy with him.

Regards, Guy

Hey I am a moderator for this forum but I (or the others I have talked to) do not have tunnel vision.
If it works and your gun likes the TSX then why not?
Feel free to air all your thoughts here...as opposed to other forums.

Right on Guy, glad your hunt turned out well. the 2506 has been a huntin buddy of mine since 1980 or so, even though I use pistols alot mine took a couple of bucks this year , one was my second buck and a freind used it also because his 300 winny was acting up. Hope your shoulder held up dragging him out
