Wyoming Pronghorn hunt Area 61 info??

Can’t help you with the area but ain’t it great to be still putting in for tags in an area you hunted 50 years ago!

Any info on hunting Area 61 if I get drawn?? Thanks for any help. The last time I was in that area was in the 1970's.
Historically, there are good numbers of antelope in this area. Blue Tongue has hammered all of the herds in the last 5 years. The southern half of the unit is very checkerboarded with BLM and private in alternating squares. The railroad was given every other mile. The norther half butts up to Green Mountain, but is mostly BLM. I would encourage a couple of things.
1. OnX maps, whether on your mobile device or on a Garmin.
2. Spend a little time scouting prior. Thing continue to change in Wyoming and you never know when a supposed public land gate gets locked(I had it happen on unit 62, which is due east of 61).

Where are you coming from? Merely curious, but I live 100 miles east of that unit. Depending on how much time you have and the duration of the season, the antelope can get skittish quickly based on pressure, so I'd encourage opening day or if it is a six week season, let the masses settle down and hunt a little later. The weather can get dicey the later you go, but there will likely be less people.
Good luck with your draw. I'm still on the fence as to whether I apply. I've got 2 weeks!
