I contacted Browning to find out the maximum oal for 7mm08 that would fit in the x-bolt magazine, but they were hesitant to suggest any but the standard 2.80". Does anyone have an answer? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. The reason Browning was hesitant is that the magazines are not cartridge specific. The OAL may vary because they are mass-produced and destined to serve a variety of cartridges. You will need to measure your particular magazine to discover the restrictions it may impose.

Thanks for the tip. Looking to get an x-bolt because they have a rotating bolt sleeve as did the original, and the a-bolt 2 does not. Mine froze solid on a hunt so the bolt wouldn't cycle. Did not want to get one if the oal coud not be modified and still fit in the magazine.
