An unfired, "used" Remington 700 ADL .243 Win followed me home today. I am going to work on bedding it and then get some Talleys and decide on which Leupold to plop on it.

It's going after deer this fall so which bullet, 90 AccuBond, 80 TTSX, 80 GMX, or 90 Deep Curl?

Nice! I would like a nice 243. Before I know it, I'll have my sons shot up and I'll owe him a new barrel! Congrats on the 243.

The influence of some individuals (I'm not naming anyone, but their initials spell SJB and FP) is overwhelming. I am totally sympathetic, Heath. 8)

Speaking of which, did you find that 264 Win Mag you need yet?

Nope! Didn't find the one I wanted, either. But that doesn't mean I'm not looking. Now, there you go again, Scotty!

bad bad boy! 90 gr accubonds with RL22 should do nicely

Oh nice. Had not thought of that! Might have to get out there and put some more rounds through it!

That Gene. It brings a tear to my eye witnessing how he cares for you, Scotty.

Maybe but I think a proper Whelen in a Winchester is a first priority!

Man, don't get me started Jake. I have my old M70 338 Win Mag just sitting in the safe beggin me to become a Norma or something cool like that. I just can't stomach getting rid of my M700 Whelen. It's too good a shooter. I tried and it broke me. :p

I do. It's a good rifle. Carries well and makes an excellent elk rifle. I can't really ask for any rifle to do more nor would anything I built do any better. I'll just suffer with it. It does sling 250 PTs pretty well.

Neither...... use the 100 gr. Nosler Partition! Worked for me real well years ago on Big U.P. Michigan Deer! But then so did my 35 Whelen, and a 45-70 Govt.

Heath, I'm liking that 90 AB. Real accurate in my boys 243. Should be a super deer bullet.

I would like to try Partitions but I have never had luck shooting them. I tried the 125PT in the .260 Rem, the 150 PT in my 30/06 and a friend has tried the 85gr PT in his .243 and I have never got them to fly where I wanted.

The 90 AB is a great looking bullet.

I found a new/used Weaver 4x40 that I had collected and mounted it on some Millet standard bases and rings after floating the barrel and adjusting the trigger to 3lbs off to the range. A quick bore sight and I struck paper with 2 100gr Win factory rounds. I bought a box of 80gr Win PP's to capture some brass and just see how it shoots.

I only fired 3 - 3 shot groups - 1.23" - .87" - 1.1" @ 115yds with a fixed 4, I am more than pleased. I left it 1.25" high for now. A set of Talley LW's and maybe a Leupold with the LR duplex could be on order......

I just have to decide on 3-9x40 or 4-12x40

The 100 gr Partition trumps all those bullets listed.... IMHO. Good buy , it will be a very sharp looking rifle with the Talleys on there.
