You guys made me do it........

I found a new/used Weaver 4x40 that I had collected and mounted it on some Millet standard bases and rings after floating the barrel and adjusting the trigger to 3lbs off to the range. A quick bore sight and I struck paper with 2 100gr Win factory rounds. I bought a box of 80gr Win PP's to capture some brass and just see how it shoots.

I only fired 3 - 3 shot groups - 1.23" - .87" - 1.1" @ 115yds with a fixed 4, I am more than pleased. I left it 1.25" high for now. A set of Talley LW's and maybe a Leupold with the LR duplex could be on order......

I just have to decide on 3-9x40 or 4-12x40

Sounds like a great rifle. Might be a great candidate for the 4-12 with te LR reticle. Try some of the 105 AMaxs Heath. Those shoot real well outta my boys 243 with RL22.

I have thought about the 95 or 100gr Partition but I have never gotten the PT's to fly like I want.

The 105 HPBT is in my cart at midway. They have a higher BC than the 105 Amax .530 vs .500. I am an Amax fan, I shoot the 162's through my 7wsm.

Heath I know exactly how you feel  before belonging to this forum & the influence it has over me I had paired down to 1 caliber. Now I am up over 6 calibres & have another one being built.
I knew the blame was not on myself

Blessings,
Dan

Yeah, that Scotty; he's a bad 'un, for sure.

Getting new toys is expensive. I just ordered a new Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40, a set of dies and an aluminum trigger guard for this .243.

You guys are killing me! :)

Ha! I would take some of the blame, but this is mostly Mikes fault!

That should be a great scope for the rifle.

Yeah, its hard to take, Heath. Just chalk it all up to Scotty's malevolent influence and go enjoy shooting the rifle.

Consequently, Scotty, I resemble that remark.

It's wrapped up on the bench right now slathered in bedding compound. The Leupold Mark AR arrived today, dies and 105 BTHP's are on the way.

I always get nervous when bedding a rifle, my luck I welded it together........

Ha! If it is welded together, it should shoot well! Good luck Heath. Post a picture of that rifle. Sounds like a slick little rifle.

With the help of my BFH I got it apart this morning. The front looks fantastic, the back....meh..... I knew the factory crapperware fit funny but the tang just barely touches the stock according to the bed job. I added some more and slapped it back together.

I usually run a piece of tape around the lug for a little room but this time I went no tape.

I'll snap some pics later.

I did not weld it together the 2nd time either. The tang came out much better this time around. I got the Mark AR mounted up, awesome scope. I did not get rifle pics but I did manage a couple groups @ 115yds. Winchester 80gr PP ammo. 1st pic is of rounds 1-2-3 after bore sighting. 2nd pic is 7-8-9 all 9 rounds were fired in 12 mins so the barrel was a might warm and the mirage was heavy by the end. Looks like it might wind up shooting ok.

Yup. That thing is going to be awesome with those 105's Heath. I might need to look at that AR scope for my sons 243. Very nice shooting!
