Well the gf is a proud new owner of a kimber lightweight hunter in 7/08...Plan is to use the 140g AB out of it for her. Someone could run a quick QL prediction with 140g AB, 22" bbl, and whatever the SAAMI length is, max pressure all powders be much appreciated. Going to top it off with some talley lightweight mounts and a Leupold vx3 CDS 3.5-10x40. Also be going with one of Nathans brakes. 7# rifle ready to go soon for 2nd season spike!!

Congrats to the GF. For what it's worth I'm getting 2860 fps with a 140 AB and H4895 in my Kimber.

Very nice setup- the 7-08 has become one of my favorites for a low recoil killing stick.

Heck, I could hunt almost anything with one.

Congratulations to your gf. That does sound like a nice setup, any pictures? Let us know how it shoots.

Jorey, I know RL17 works really well in the 7x57 and I'd bet it would work awesome in the 7-08 as well. That should be a wicked little rifle and the 140 AB is a pretty slick pill.

Might get a chance to link up in the 2nd season if you guys are up on Mt. Emily. I am looking forward to making that hunt.

Congratulations to your GF . I am sure that she will get many years of enjoyment shooting that Kimber. Kimber rifles are not used very much around these parts, but from what I have read they are a reliable lightweight. Placing a Leuy on top is a wise choice as well.
The 7mm-08 is great calibre and it will serve her well.

Blessings,
Dan

Congrats on a great rifle!
I'd try Ramshot Big Game powder with the 140 AB. Works great with the 120 NBT also!!!

41.5 grains of H4895, 2.810 COL using Remington brass out of my rifle hits 2860 for me.

I had a Kimber 84M in 7mm08 for several years. It only liked 139-140 gr bullets...nothing lighter or heavier! It really liked the old Hornady Light magnum 139 SST load. It put them in a nice bughole, when shot slow of course. It actually chronographed a teensy over 3100fps too! I only shot one animal, a Texas Dall exotic ( big body for his species, didn't weigh him) at 200yds. I made a heart shot and he ran downhill in a blur for 40yds, rolled over. The bullet was found on opposite ribcage and was fragmented. I figured it to be a fine deer/antelope load but not for big hogs/elk. That is patently "unfair", being based on one kill, but I am too anal about bullets admittedly. :) Funny thing, the guides girlfriend used a 7x57 and I was commenting to her that the 7mm08 was just a modern equivalent, when the mauser is fed right. Now, I don't have the 7mm08, but I do have the 7x57...ha. The 7mm08 is very popular out here.

I've had exceptional luck with 46gr of RL-17 and 140 NBT's in several of the 7-08's I load for. In fact I have yet to have a rifle not like the load. It's always been a case of fine tuning the COAL then letting her fly.

Congratulations to your GF on her Kimber 7-08.
The 140 GR AB should do the trick. Looking at QL,
RL17 would be a good starting point for you.
Let us know how your load development goes.

RL17 and the 7mm-08 work well together . if you want high velocity in the 7mm-08 , RL17 is the go to powder .

I just stopped by Cabelas and got a box of 140 grain Partitions for $25 and a box of 50 Brass for $35. They had 'em on closeout.
