Ruger M77 Hawkeye RSI International 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser New Old Stock Factory New Condition!

These came with 1:8” twist 18.5” barrels too.

What should I do with this rifle?
A) Keep it in unfired condition and hope it goes up in value.
B) Shoot it and then go hunting with it.
C) Sell it to someone else, and let them decide what to do with it?

Three out of three: use it. If there wasn't a border with Homeland Security watching to keep radicals, like those living in Canada, from acquiring firearms, I'd be on that like white on rice. Love those RSI firearms. They don't shoot any better than other Rugers, but they sure do look sweet.

I’ve read mixed reviews on how these particular rifles shoot?

The end cap is making contact with the barrel band, and the wood stock on both sides where the rear sight is attached to the barrel.

What’s odd is it came in a brand new box from Ruger stamped 01/29/25 and I looked up the manufacturer date too: 2025!

Yet on Ruger’s website they make no mention of even making them, or having them cataloged as a production rifle even when I searched for it on their website. No results.

I was told it came from Lipsey’s as a limited run in 2008, and they produced 285 of them in 6.5x55. Which is a fact that they did, the new box and manufacturer date has thrown me off from what I have?

This is funny as heck!!!

Look what I just posted....

Give me a good deal I'll buy it right now

I’m cleaning the barrel from when Ruger test fired it…… It always amazes me when I get a new rifle and begin working up a load for it!

Obviously with all the 6.5mm/.264 caliber rifles that I’ve owned finding bullets for it shouldn’t be an issue. I figured that after breaking in the barrel it would be well suited to handling a Nosler Partition in either 125 gr. or the 140 gr. If I still had some of the older Norma 156 Oryx’s I’d definitely give those a try.

RRP has Norma’s BondStrike 143 gr bullets available, which I’ve heard has produced some good results in terms of accuracy and on game performance.

I’ve got some rifle scopes that I can try out on it. Schmidt & Bender Klassik’s, a Leica 2.5-15x56 AmPlus 6. I’ve been kicking around the idea of putting my Trijicon 1-10x28 on it strictly for snap shots on running game! It’s a useful reticle and it’s not like this rifle is going to be some long range shooting rig when I have plenty of other's that would be a better option.

What do you think of this Picatinny setup for Ruger M77’s? It’s made by Weigand Machine and Design in PA.

Go for it. It makes mounting scopes easy....
Especially when I already have a bunch of scopes that all use a Picatinny Base. Most of them were never meant for a gun like this and would look terrible since it’s such a petit rifle. It truly needs something downsized to give it justice.

The Leica was just way too big due to the objective being 56mm, even in medium rings didn’t help. So I put a S&B Klassik 3-12x42 P3L I had for my 280AI when I needed a lit reticle for the Timber. Looks pretty good, but still a bit large for a tiny gun IMO.

I wonder if Ruger uses the same barrel profile for the smaller caliber’s and/or enlarged them as they went up in sizes? This one looks like a #1. I would almost think they’d have too.
