This day 1969

I was 18 years old and just graduated from high school. I was helping out on my grandfather's farm and helping my uncle add an addition to his house. It was the only summer since I was 12 years old that I didn't have a full-time summer job, just helping Grandpa and Uncle LaVern. Went to Clarkson College of Technology in August.

I was 9 years old and I was most likely back in the area behind where we lived along the Stillwater River south of Columbus Montana. My grandparents lived just down the road from us and we were about 3-4 miles out of town. It was my little slice of heaven as we had a couple creeks that went through the property and we were about 1/4 mile to the river. I had many adventures back there. Fishing and trapping.

I remember sitting on the floor watching it on television.
At the time we were living in an apartment in Des Moines. Mom was vacuuming or dusting and doing her wifely/motherly duties.

i'm another of these young'ns on here..............i was 3 3/4 (3.75 for decimal lovers) years old and couldn't say what i was doing. depending on tod i could've been bouncing around in the feed truck out feeding cattle of my parents teaching me how to write right-handed cause they couldn't teach a naturally left-handed kid how to. so, i'm cross eye dominant when shooting right-handed and not when shooting left. right-handed and left-footed, talk about screwed up!

I was13 but I am not sure TV was even available here in Alaska. If it was there was only one channel and it was taped and that was two week delayed. I know for darn sure our family did not have one yet.

I remember laying in a meadow that night, Scoutmaster had brought a pair of Binoculars. We were taking turns tying to catch a reflection kind of thing. I remember one of the kids asking if they could still see earth during daylight so they could find there way home.

I was Staff Instructor at the US Navy D1G Nuclear Power Prototype at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Saratoga Springs, NY. I was probably standing watch and giving some student a system checkout. I was just glad that (1) I dodged going to Vietnam Nam (2) I was not at sea on the Enterprise or some Fast Attack submarine. A year later I was assigned to Submarine School in New London, Connecticut. 6 years in Rickovers Navy from 67-73. Qualified Submarines, Qualified as a USN Nuclear Power Plant Operator.

You’re a better man than me.
Ain’t no way I’d get into a cigar tube of death by drowning.
