These are all some great looking groups from many different calibers. When you are working on load development, what do you find tightens the group in the most, is it adjusting powder charge, or the seating depth?

Up till now (and I have been doing this for decades) I have never had to pay with seating depth.
A little powder more or a little less worked great for me.

Now loading Hammers..... They are so uniform that loading them to accuracy is too easy, if I dare say so.

Very interesting. is your preferred seating depth .050? I have not been doing this for decades, but maybe a decade. When my Pap was teaching me he was very old school. no chrono, he didn't play with primers, all he did was adjust powder and seating depth (always off the ogive - CBTO) we never did overall length of the round. He told me there are too many bullets with inconsistent tips and you aren't getting a true reading how far your bullet is from the lands when doing COAL. We would put something together and he would say, that didn't sound right.. add .5gr more powder. And we dialed our loads in by POI and his.. that didn't sound right, that doesn't look right way of judging haha.

I started using a chrono and finding nodes in my speeds with different powder charges using both ladder and OCW. Once I got charge weight with a speed that leveled out, I stayed in that charge weight and played with seating depth. This has worked great for me... 90% of the time. I've had a few guns it didn't and one gun, recently, that flat out would not dial in for me.

I am of the mindset that I'll never stop learning and everyone can teach me something.. even if it's what not to do haha. Just curious what you like to do because your method seems to be producing results.

Yup all copper bullets .050" off lands.

That is the weird thing about loading. It is such an "imprecise" science...if I am using the correct word.

Many different paths lead to happiness or frustration.

Nice rifle and excellent shooting!

I'm shooting Hammers in 5 different rifles now plus my sons rifle and all shoot excellent. On game performance is excellent as well, much like a Partition only lead-free.

Good luck on your hunt, can't wait to see your results!

That is exactly how they work the front and just shatters all the pedals go everywhere usually four big pedals that are easily retrievable and the rest of the shank just drives through like a lead cast bullet from a 44 Magnum

Agreed.

Someone gets too big for their britches they get handed a box of ABLRS or Swift Sciroccos. Those have made me feel like I should be buying factory ammo at times.
