I have reviewed the data on Nosler web site using the 200 Gr bullet. I have Retumbo and N-570 and 6.5 StaBall powders on hand. Are these viable for this application? THANK YOU! GOD Bless!

THANK YOU! The AI search wasn't encouraging regarding the N570 powder for my application. However, it did provide encouraging results for Re 19 using the 200 Gr bullet. The newer Nosler Manual does not provide data for Re-19 using the 200 Gr bullet. There is data listed in the older manuals. Just making sure by cross referencing. THANK YOU for Your INPUT! Greatly Appreciated! GOD Bless!I just was playing with AI data after seeing another thread here.I used https://grok.com/ and entered my info based on know results I was getting from my rifles.I found it to be very close if you enter all your information. It is about the same as Quick Load. This is what I would enter based on my rifle.
Load development 308 Norma Magnum,26" Barrel,308 Norma Magnum Case,WLRM Primer,200 grain Nosler AccuBond,N-570 powder,62,000psi
Thanks Again! Interesting that this is the data is very close to the .30/338 Winchester Magnum Wildcat from the late 1960's to early 1970's.Because the 308 Norma Magnum was developed before the 300 Win Mag and long before many of the powders available today, your not going to find much load data. The data you find is usually very old data, limited powders, usually listed in cup pressure that converts to 55-58k psi and because there just isn't enough rifles chambered for it anymore and never was here in the USA.Dr Mike here was kind enough to run Quick Load data for me to help me get started.
IMHO, I believe that the .300 WSM stole its thunder.Yes the 30-338 is like a twin to the 308 Norma Magnum.Really the biggest difference is,the Norma has a little longer neck and the shoulder dimensions are just a tiny bit different.Case capacities are virtually the same, just really depends more on the brand of brass you use.I've used both 338 Win Mag and 7mag brass run through my 308 Norma Mag dies and had great results.Necks are a little shorter, but I couldn't tell any difference between that and the Norma brass. It's a great cartridge like the 30-338.I'm really surprised either cartridge isn't chambered in factory rifles here in the US.The case length offers generous mag box room if you want to seat bullets out long.My 26" barrel rifles produce about the same velocity as my 24" barrel 300 Win Mag.
I believe that You are correct, but You will see more .300WSM in Modern long range competition, than You will ever see .308 Norma Magnum or .30/338 Winchester. The .30/338 Winchester Magnum was use to win the NRA 1000 Yard Match at Camp Perry in 1970. Its been almost 56 years. That is what peaked my interest while attending gunsmithing school in that time frame. If I was going to build another .30 Magnum? It would be the .300 WSM, if I live that longI'm able to get more out of my 308 Norma's than I could out of my 300WSM.I sold my 300WSM.
More speed, or what? I'm very curious in this particular caliber, but I love the 300wsm haha.I'm able to get more out of my 308 Norma's than I could out of my 300WSM.I sold my 300WSM.
I don't believe that the WSM will out perform the .308 Norma Magnum in Velocity. However the .300WSM is probably much more efficient. There is a difference in operating pressures. The old wildcat .30/338 Winchester Magnum is similar to the .308 Norma Magnum. Not as much ommph as the .300 Winchester Magnum, but very efficient for its time with the powders available. With little modern powder data available, its hard to reach its full potential.More speed, or what? I'm very curious in this particular caliber, but I love the 300wsm haha.
I'd say it's easier to get 50fps or more over what I could get with my 300WSM.My 300WSM had a 26" barrel and so do my 308 Norma Magnums,so I was working with the same length barrels. The 308 Norma has a little more useful case capacity,5.18cc,the 300WSM,4.91cc.Easy to get 3100fps + with 180gr bullets and 3200fps + with168gr bullets. My 26" barrel 308 Norma Mags run really close to my 24" barrel 300 Win Mags.Because it's built on a long action and the case length is 2.559,it allows you plenty of mag box room to seat bullets out farther. Here is some Quick Load data Dr Mike ran for me @ 63k pressure with the 180gr. out of a 26" barrelMore speed, or what? I'm very curious in this particular caliber, but I love the 300wsm haha.
