UPDATE - 7-08 QL Request - Cutting Barrel Down From 22" to 18" - Adding Suppressor

I lost almost exactly 200 fps (16" vs 22") with my 120gn loads. My handloads are definitely on the warm side. I am still within acceptable fps/energy parameters for whitetail out to 400 yards. Interestingly, I did seem to lose a greater ratio of FPS with a heavier bullet. For example, I loaded some 165gn Norma Bondstirke and they are averaging 2441 fps at the muzzle but got really good ES/SD numbers w/ 48.8 RL19 (compressed load). While slower at the muzzle they retain better velocity, energy and drift at 400yds then the 120s. Kind of fun the play with the math...

That sister load (308 Win w/165gn AB) @ 2633 FPS in the above post was shot out of my chopped REM LTR. I think that is really good performance out of a 16" barrel. IMO, the 308 Win is made for short barrels. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but short barrels definitely work for me!

I like the math as well. This is why I'm running 162 ELD-X in my 7-08. Hopefully the new chrono will be here early to middle of next week. I like the one I have but I think the Athlon Optics Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar is going to be the ticket.
