It’s a reasonably tough little bullet in our experience, at least at the velocities generated in a 6.5x55. It has punched through shoulder blades, ribs and spines on red deer. They do expand quite violently. I think this bullet is much like a ballistic tip in that the first iteration might have...
It has been a good year. There has been good food in the paddocks for the animals and little hunting pressure on the properties we go to. Offshore has also been good with quite a few wahoo and mahi mahi this season too. I will hunt again soon in the coming weeks. Majority of game taken with...
92 grains of Retumbo gets it out the barrel of my Rum at 3,132fps with an SD of 7.9. That's out of a 26 inch barrel. It is an incredibly accurate load but probably in a cartridge I would never buy again. I have enjoyed playing with it though.
I agree, the profile on that accubond combined with the bonding make it an absolute killer out of the 300wm and up. It goes very well out of my 300RUM.
Thought I would put up a couple of pics of some bullet cross sections for you all.
The first picture is a 30 cal 200 grain accubond and a 30 cal 165 sierra tipped gameking. I was very impressed with the jacket thickness of the TGK but would want some velocity to make it work I suspect.
The...
It’s a good looking little cartridge that. Think it is my favourite of all the Creedmores. That 128eldx would also make a fine goat and fallow deer bullet.
So far my boys and and I have shot pigs, wild dogs, red deer and fallow with a 223, 6.5x55, 7mm08 and 7mmRM, 308.
Rifles that should get a run but for one reason or another haven’t, 260, 280ai and the 30/30 in the tighter bush.
I share your pain. I used to use RL19 & 22 but you can’t get that anymore. RL26 I never got the chance to play with. It is H or AR powders as we know them here or nothing. Crazy times that still haven’t improved. At least we can buy primers now
As Shrek would say, that’ll do donkey, that’ll do. Great shooting and that is a load that will put meat on the table every day of the week. The only problem is now when you miss, you can’t blame the rifle 😉
