So then I experimented with the same powder charges of Varget but swapped to the 165SST which I bought as a "what the hell have I got to lose" in trying to get this rifle to shoot.
Well the rifle showed me what it was capable of and left me feeling like I was definitely on the right path with...
So here's the update. Shooting in a left to right wind of 10-15 knots with gusts, not great for groups but not bad enough to realise if things are heading in the right direction. From left to right is the 165NBT in front of Varget starting at 51.5 and ending at 53.5 increasing in 0.5grain...
That is great shooting and nice velocity from a short barrel too, (well short for me anyway). Unfortunately I don't have access to Big Game. We realistically only have access to ADI powders which do translate to some of yours such as AR2209=H4350 etc. Post pandemic and wars raging really have...
Thank you sir, much appreciated. I really want this rifle to shoot. You can see it is trying to make little groups, but something is just not quite there. I'll report back when I have had some range time and see if that change makes any difference.
Sorry Mike, absolutely right.
Happy for you to use the 165 ballistic tip. That is the bullet I want to work so I can swap out to an accubond when or if the need arises.
Hi guys, I am suffering through trying to get good reloads with my 30-06 using 165 class bullets. The barrel is 26 inches long in a varmint contour. Brass is Norma. I have been trying with H4350 and the best I can get is 5 shots around an inch in size. Remington barrel and action is bedded into...
I’m at 92.5 of retumbo in Norma brass with the. 200 accubond. That is getting along at 3,080fps and is very accurate. That is one grain over max in the Nosler reloading book.
Indeed welcome to the 280ai cult…I mean club 😝
I mostly shoot 150’s in mine as well and have found H4350 was excellent. If you want some good YouTube videos, check out Little Crow gun works. He has done a lot of work in the 7mm calibre and gives the old AI a fair going over.
You need a 9.3x62. Good magazine capacity, never found an inaccurate one, not punishing recoil and always leaves a smile on my face whilst shooting one. With a 250 grain accubond they actually become a 300 yard cartridge quite comfortably.
IMR 4350 is a problem, but H4350 we can get literally any time over here. Great photos and thanks for sharing. I find myself these days moving to more efficient cartridges and those that don't need muzzle brakes to tame...though I do have a soft spot for a light 300RUM I own that would be a...
