While the new Gen 6 should be out soon, I'm not sure that all previous models are being discontinued. Yesterday, my dealer just got in a shipment of Gen 4 and Gen 5 pistols.
The same question was recently posted on another site. The general consensus was that the X dies works exactly as advertised once you get them set up correctly.
I shot most of my bull moose with a 338RUM and a 250 Accubond. Terminal performance was always excellent. Most bullets passed through on broadside shots. I'd expect a Barnes bullet to have less expansion but greater penetration. Velocities in my 26" bbl ran about 3,000fps.
I much prefer evening hunting, which is when I have taken most of my whitetails. However, when the bucks are actually chasing does, any time in the field is a good time. Even midday can be the perfect opportunity. Bucks are too preoccupied to use any of their natural instincts for survival.

My limited use of the ABLR had a different outcome. The ABLR bullets shot from a 6.5 Creed caused a rather extreme exit wound on two deer shot at about 100yds. I've never seen that happen with a regular Accubond, which I've used extensively.
The swift 350 A-Frame is really a perfect 45-70 bullet even though it's a bit stout at 45-70 velocities IMO. The only downside to the Swift is its relative cost. I've got several boxes of Hornady 350RN laying around here. They will get the job done at a fraction of the cost. If I was intent on...
The concept behind the ABLR is good. But ........what we really need is a redesigned ABLR that is easier to tune. Maybe a hybrid ojive would do the trick.
Fortunately, my health insurance covers hearing aids, including some rather expensive models. However, I have noticed that hearing aids are getting much less expensive and are in financial reach of most anyone. Some are in the hundreds of dollars. I recently read that Medicare may soon cover...
