30-06

I too have tried to work up a load for 180 e tip in 30-06. Could not get them to group worth a darn. Got tired of messing with them and left them on the shelf with 15-20 bullets left in the box.

I haven't gone heavier than 165/168 in mono-metal bullets for the 30-06. Excellent accuracy, penetration and expansion with them. Have Nosler E-Tips, Barnes TSX and Hornady CX bullets on hand.

Those bullets are significantly longer than cup and core 165's. Given their performance so far, I don't think I'll ever even try the 180 E-Tips or other mono-metals from my 30-06 rifles.

Regards, Guy

I tagged a fair number of moose and elk using both the 165 grain and the 168 grain TSX launched from a 300 WSM. The bullets worked very well on those critters. I never lost one of these animals due to bullet failure.
