Favourite 30-06-based Cartridge?

My favorite on the 06 case was my first center fire rifle that I mowed lawns for in the mid 1980's. Because I shoot left handed I opted for a Remington 7600 in the father of them all, the 30/06 Springfield!
But by 1990 I was out of college and wanted something different so I decided I wanted a left-handed rifle in the same caliber as my uncle whom I worked for. I wanted a 25/06! It happened that Browning was cataloging the left-handed Stainless Stalker 25/06 in '90 but they didn't hit the wholesalers until the following year. I caught one of the first that Zanders had in their warehouse. Because of where I was hunting at that time I killed more deer with that 25/06 than any other one gun that I own. I don't hunt it often anymore but did take a 300+ pound sow with it last deer season. She wasn't but about 90 yards when I shot her in the eye. She just collapsed! I have confidence in that rifle, caliber and scope, a VX3 4.5-14x, to kill any deer that walks. My preferred load pushes a 100gr Nosler Partition at a chronographed 3400 fps. I have a box of the 110 gr Accubonds to try but I haven't loaded them because I don't know what they'll do that my Partitions can't.
All that to say that the 25/06 is now my favorite offspring of the 30/06!

Based on what I have owned, shot and hunted with, it’s got to be the 280 REM and now the 280 AI. I’m a 7mm advocate having had a couple 7 mm RM’s and several 280’s, the 280 AI would be my long action choice.

I started out young with a Rem ADL 30.06 and harvested lots of deer with it so it'll always have a place in the safe and in my heart. My favorite is the 25.06, it's been my go-to for 30+ years and counting. I have a good friend who had a Sako 25.06 and he let me shoot it many years ago and i never looked back. I've owned several different rifles in that caliber with the CDL being my current and at my age my last. I had 6 different rifles in the safe at one time chambered in 25.06 so needless to say I've always had a love for this caliber from the first time i pulled the trigger on one. Mike
