Good times at the MF MOA/KYL shoot today. Thanks to Gentry Thorpe for hosting it, and Alex Mendoza for letting me tag along. Also shout out to my amazing wife Erin Peterson for the support and taking pics/videos. I took the 6 Creedmoor with 108g ELDMs and tied for 2nd on the KYL at 500 yards, and took 3rd at the MOA-1/2 MOA 800 yard challenge out of about 30 some odd shooters. Always nice to meet new like minded folks and spend a day shooting and smelling burnt gun powder!

Congratulations, how was the wind there? Seen it blow pretty hard across the wheat fields.

Thank you everyone. The wind actually wasn't too bad. Started off around 5-7 mph on the 500 yard KYL rack for me. By the time I was up for the 800 yard MOA-1/2 MOA stage an hour later, there was zero wind. Couldn't have asked for a better day. I lost by 1 point on the KYL rack to a pro shooter, but he also had zero wind to contend with as he was in the last group. After getting my blackjack on 10 shots, I had 2 more shots to hit the 2" again and just hit right of the right edge both times by less than an inch. The pro got his blackjack on 10 shots also, but he ended up hitting the 2" again on his last and final 12th shot. I'll say a 2" target at 500 is pretty damn tough, especially after it gets hit a few times and the paint comes off, can barely make it out against the berm. My buddy won the 800 yard MOA-1/2 MOA with his 25 Creed by hitting on his 1st and 3rd shots. I hit them on my 2nd and 5th to take 3rd place. I believe the 2nd place guy got 1st and 4th round hits with a 6.5 Creed. Again, the 4" target at 800 is pretty tough, especially after it gets hit a few times and all the paint is gone. We also had no communication with the spotters, so we had to spot our own impacts and adjust on the fly. Which was no problem for me with the 16# 6 creed and a MBM 3 port lil beast brake on the 25x TMR MK4. Some guys were having issues spotting their own impacts. I also learned that shooting 10-12 shot strings through a 6 Creed produces some pretty good heat, and my brass showed it. Not a hot load by any means at 3050fps, but by the 5th-6th shot, I was getting a little bit sticky bolt lift and some nice case head swipes on the Peterson brass! It has never done that before in my slow fire shooting on my home range or coyote hunting. I think it's just due to the chamber/barrel heat. Might have to tweak the load down a couple few tenths for future comps, especially in warmer weather. Temp was 55-60 degrees. All in all, super fun day and I feel like I held my own pretty well against some very very good shooters. I also only saw 1 other non chassy rifle out there. I'm still rocking the old school A5 McMillans as I'm just not a fan of chassys personally. The 6/25/6.5 Creed cases took home the bacon that day out of a pile of Dashers and 22/6 GTs.
