Any plans for a new rifle in 2025?

I have a blr in 270win, but haven't shot it much. How's the accuracy with it? I only bore sighted mine just to shoot steel. Need to shoot paper and dial it in with the factory ammo i have on hand then go from there. In 27cal have bullets from 90-150gr. Waiting on the 277fury ar barrel (22" 8t) I might load up to 150's in it.
I have a 10 twist 26" 277 Fury barrel coming. Im going to try 140 Hybrids and 150 ABLR.

The BLR in 308 referenced in this post was a friend's dad's rifle. It shot well enough tp put those whitetail on the ground with one shot each at 80 and 40 yards...so minute of deer!
My BLR in 358 will do groups as small as 1" at yards with its preferred load with the 220 gr Speer Hot Cor at 2209 fps out of its 20" barrel (load is 50 gr of W748 in WW cases and ignited by a WLR primer).
It will produce 1.1" groups with 35.5 gr of Re-7 and 1.2 groups with 47.5 gr of W748 with the 225 gr Partitions. Sorry didn't chrony these loads bac in the day (2003).

Update: I recently had an issue with the 30mm QRW mounts that I needed to use when I upgraded the scope from the VX-III 1.5-5 to the VX-R 2-7; I didnn't have enough windage to dial it into zero (too far to the right when dialed all the way over). The local gunsmith commented that he had seen this on a few of these mounts and that he would machine them to get them perfectly square and level.
I am now zeroed, and the rifle produced groups averaging 0.510" at 100 yards with the Hornady 200 gr Interlock ammo with a velocity of 2469 fps and a SD of 8.8. This is the best grouping this rifle has ever produced! With a 150 yard zero, I am 1.2" high at 100 and down 3.3" at 200 yards, where it still retains 1933 fps and 1659 ft lbs of energy. Point and shoot the little red dot (Firedot) and moose and bear to 200! (This means I still have 2000 ft lbs of energy to 127 yards for buffalo.)

I know of others who have gotten great accuracy out of their BLRs; DrMike had a BLR in 358 Win that would shoot less than 1/2" groups with the 200 gr TSX if I recall correctly. Gerry now owns that rifle and can provide further input on its accuracy.

An update on the new-to-me LH X Bolt All Weather on 308 Win.
I did pick up a box of the Nosler 165 gr AccuBond ammo. It produced a 3 shot group of 1.240" at 100 yards, at 2789 fps.

I shot the Federal 175 gr terminal Ascent ammo again, and produced a group of 0.792" at 2561 fps, with an ES of 21.8 and a SD of 8.3.
That gives an average group size of 0.757" now. Was smacking the gongs out to 400 standing and sitting off the Bog DeathGrip, as well as a metal pig someone set up out at 450 yards. Having fun!
I also found a guy with a NIB carbon fibre Bog DeathGrip with the Infinite head for sale at a savings of $170 over new in the store, so have that on the way too! It'll be about 2 pounds lighter for packing on stalks.

I did chat with our outfitter for our SA safari next May too. His son is using 165/168 gr ammo in the LH Rem 700 suppressed rifle we will be using, but he could not recall the bullet at the moment.
He is going to see if he can get the Federal 175 gr Terminal Ascent ammo to try in it for us. I would really like to try that bullet on African game first hand (I had such good performance with it in the 6.5 CM in New Zealand!).

My daughter has decided that she wants to hunt buffalo! And her husband was thinking she needed a 300 Win Mag (his favourite cartridge). (So this one is not for me! LOL)
As she is somewhat recoil sensitive, I suggested the 338 Federal, (larger diameter bullet, good energy at reasonable distances for this larger animal, with less felt recoil) which she has shot before. Which will provide the 2000 ft lbs of energy with the 180 gr AccuBond out to 254 yards, and have less felt recoil. (She also used my BLR in 358 Win to take her first big game animals (mule deer) when she was 16.)

After discussing it with her, I have bought DrMike's Model 70 Featherweight for her in 338 Federal (it has a 24" Douglas barrel on it) which she has shot before when looking to try various rifles/cartridges when we got her her first big game rifle (she chose a Rem 700 Titanium in 270 Win at the time, as it was the lightest rifle, and she found it the most comfortable for her), which she has used on deer, moose, caribou, and a stones sheep to date.

She will try this, and we will settle on a scope for her. Right now it has a Kahles 3-9x42 plex reticle scope on it, which a great scope, sighted in for the Federal 200 gr Trophy Copper ammo. (This load will be legal out to 258 yards, with 5.3" of drop with a 200 yard zero.)
The question will be if she wants the same sized Kahles with the TDS reticle (which Mike also has available), or a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 with a B&C reticle (which I have in stock) to give her hold over points past a 200 yard zero.

Mike has good load data for loads in this rifle, with the 185 gr TTSX (0.64" groups), 200 gr AccuBond (0.67" and 0.77" groups with various powders), 200 gr E-Tip (0.86" groups), 210 gr Partition (0.61" groups), 210 gr TSX (0.65" groups, and 215 gr SGK (0.77" groups).
The rifle is definitely a shooter with a wide variety of bullets and weights! It will just depend on which load she settles on that she finds most comfortable to shoot in it.

Thanks again Mike!

Glad to see the firearm going to a good home, and to a good friend, Gil. I know the rifle works and produces enviable results. Of course, you were present when this rifle was blooded with a moose dropping to a 200 grain Trophy Bonded bullet.

That 338 Fed Mike built is a great one. Glad it’s going buffalo hunting. That little 338 Fed is really an excellent cartridge and fun to shoot as well.
I know that I am enjoying both of mine! And both have taken game!
I'll back her up with my 9.3x62, just cause I want to use it on a buffalo, and if needed will provide more stopping power than my own 338 Federal.

I bought a new Weatherby Accumark Limited in 6.5 Wby RPM. Mounted an old VX-3 2.5-8x36mm and picked a random load using the Sierra 140 gr Game King. Shot it at 100 yds and then put a hit on the 200 & 250 yard gongs. This rifle seems to be a shooter

I really like the 6.5RPM but haven't convinced myself to get one yet. the LGS have an Accumark Pro on a deep discount and when I asked to see it the guy mentioned there has been some quality issues with the newer Weatherby's with the head spacing Not sure this is true or not, has anyone else heard anything like this?

I bought an Accumark at the beginning of the year in 257 Weatherby. I havent shot it a ton, but its been awesome so far. No issues.

Stick shift

Im forming those 277 hybrid cases into 308 win for a gas gun now. I'll most likely do the same for my 6mm Creedmoor gas gun.
I think this is an excellent idea! This never crossed my mind but the cases would last forever in a 308 Win. Thanks, now I want to acquire Fury cases.

I've heard the model 307's are top notch. I haven't asked or spoken about any of the others. The new factory is supposedly producing very nice rifles.
