Hey all,

I was in a gun shop recently and ran across a Glenfield Model A. Had never heard of the company until I picked up the rifle. After a bit of research, it seems like it's a Ruger American design with another name. It felt nice, was very light with the Tupperware stock, 60° bolt throw with a nice big ole bolt handle, stiff but a heck of a starter rifle.

Same shop also has a Hammerli 22 WMR which is a toggle bolt 10/22 from the looks of things. Different barrel system, but Ruger mags and what not. Another fun new rifle to look into.

Both guns were under 500. Never know what you'll run in to out in the wild.

Read where Ruger has brought out that Glenfield model using the name from having purchased Marlin and putting it on the Ruger American. Sounds as if it can fill a niche.

I really like the look of Ruger American rifles, I would probably want one, but I have heard so many bad things about their magazine quality. Some of them you can just buy other brand magazines if they are AR or AI pattern, but I think the long action mags are all Ruger specific.
