Reloading the big Girl

Fotis, Thanks for pictures and details. Just out of curiosity have you or anyone else ever attempted to shoot it w/o the brake ?

143gr of RL 33 ? That's insane to me. I can't wrap my mind around it. Im sure it'll make a pound of powder go pretty quick lol

I have never tried to remove the brake.

The most hurtful gun I ever fired without a brake was a MK V Deluxe 378 BEE, by far! 270 gr bullets at 3150 fps. The gun did not come with a brake and it was painful to shoot. Still I worked up a load for it. It never did get a brake until the new owner put one on. With the extra weight of this one I would think it would kick less than that or equal to it. I would definitely shoot it without the brake but then again I have never been accused of being normal.:D

Shot the boy’s 378 with the brake off , yes it does get your attention. That’s why my 378 will be 20+ lbs when finished.

We were chasing down an accuracy issue before sending it back to Weatherby. Yes an Accubrake does tame down the 378.

Windy as hell did not go out last week I don't know if I get a chance to go out Monday which is a holiday. Currently we have gusts up to 60 mph welcome to Wyoming

Not sure what’s worse 60 mph wind or -30s windchill we’ll have here tomorrow.
Hopefully your weather will cooperate and you have a good range day.

We went out yesterday. Really nice up until 10 AM and then the gale winds came. Basically I decided to not do anything else but fireform nice and slow, taking my time the last 20 rounds of 375 Cheytac to 375 BAS improved.

350 SMK with about 130 gr of Retumbo as a sedate 3075 fps. I used the rifle to make a few big rocks rocks at longer range into many little rocks.

I did use a few rounds just to see where my velocities/visual pressures were using fireformed improved brass from a past outing.

410 Berger from 129 gr to 131 gr of N570 yielded 2912 to 2960 fps.
390 A-Tip with131 gr of N570 yielded 2960 fps.

No visible pressure and brass just fell out of chamber. The FX Pro chrono (which measures velocity at various stages in flight of the bullet) gave me a BC of 1.138 for the Atip and 1.131 for the 410 berger at my elevation. So far with my other rifles like 7mm PRC, 6.5 PRC, 300 RUM etc. the BC's have been proven pretty accurate.
Obviously these will be verified at long range, like the others, when the weather gets better through drop.
