35 Whelen and PP2000-MR

I have a nasty hankering for a big 35. I sure wish nosler would make a 35 to go with my 26. That said I have been looking at the Whelan or a 358 Norma but to be honest if I could find a decent rifle in 350 Remington I would be very happy. I've even thought about the 35 Sambar(358 WSM) since 325 cases are plenty and one step forming.

The 358 Norma adds about 200 fps to the standard Whelen, I had one and it's a great round. I thought hard about a 358 WSM as well at one time and even made up some dummy rounds. I think it has just a bit less powder capacity than the 358 Norma. The 35 Nosler would be the way to go though if they release the round. Bet they will be able to reach 3000 fps with a 250 with it easily.

A certain someone here has a 35 newton that with modern powders would be near identical ballisticaly. a fellow in Alaska did a 358-375 Ruger a few years ago that ended up called the 358 Nukalpiaq. If I remember it was getting the 250's in the 3000-3100 range. 35 nosler would be the bee's knees!!

The big 35s might not be long range cartridges, but inside 400 yards they are real hammers.

That's some pretty serious performance! Man, thanks to trading and bartering over the years, I've ended up with two Savage 110's in 30-06. I seriously want to pack one up and send it JES to change to 35 Whelen.

The 35 Nosler would be a good one but so would be the 358-375 Ruger if it ever made it to factory form. Either would be excellent rounds

If you do make sure you get a good recoil pad! It along with the 9.3x62 are the two best medium bore rounds out there in my opinion.

The big 35 Newton is really just a 35-375 Ruger. I’ve had a barrel ready to do another one for awhile but other stuff just got in front of it.

My original had a 20.5 barrel and wasn’t a big trick to get 2850 from 250 Partitions and 2950 with 225 Accubonds. I love the cartridge. It’s a blaster that’s made for the elk mountain.
