Start around 48gr 4064 and go up from there. I use Speer 165gr hotcors around 51 grains with my Christensen classic, produces one hole accuracy.

I've never used any of the 500 series VV powders in multiple 30'06's I've owned or have loaded for, but N150-N165 might get you the accuracy you're looking for.

If you can find RL19, RL22, RL23 they've always given me good speed and accuracy. Anything in the 4350 burn rate up to N160 should work with the 165-168 bullet weights. Unfortunately there's no magic pill until you test whatever you choose in your rifle. Yes sometimes the pet-loads used for years might work out well.

That said I just went through testing the 168 BT in my 22" 30'06 and what I thought would be easy didn't end up that way! It may have been the barrel needed more rounds through it before moving on to something else, 180 gr Norma Oryx and Woodleigh's, but that's how it went. I finally did get 165 Power Hammers to shot behind H4350 with very little work. The 180 Oryx really shot well behind RL23, had I tested the Woodleigh's w/RL23.

W760 has worked well in a friends '06 behind a Barnes 168 TSX BT that had a 22" bbl on it...... It shot that load under 3/8" day in and day out over the last eight years in his rifle. He took a few Elk over those years too, and would have taken more if he wasn't so old!
