I’m always excited after the load development process to get down to testing the load at distance from field positions. Luckily I’m able to do this on my property and not have to go anywhere.

This past week I loaded up 100 rounds for testing with the 22 ARC to shoot off the Quad 4 Stable Sticks. When I first tested these I wasn’t impressed, and Elizabeth returned them. Three years later I decided if I was to go back to Africa I would need to be proficient in shooting off of these elevated shooting sticks.

I currently haven’t shot off them more than 10 times, but so far I’ve reevaluated their usefulness. That mainly had to do with learning a proper stance and arm position to correctly use them.

So far, I’ve tested them with my 30’06 and the 22 ARC.

Yesterday I checked to make sure my dope was good out to 250 yards, and today I thought I would test this gun on the 4 stable sticks.

I put out some fairly large steel targets just to make sure the elevation of my dope was good, and I went to work. I shot these at various distances from 175 yards to 370 yards off the quad sticks.

Good shooting. Looks like you learned how to use them just fine.
I would like to post the thread that the individual who shared the proper way to address your feet position to the point of aim using these quad sticks, but that information belongs to that individual and I don’t feel right about attaching his work.

But he posted it on Africahunting.com under “proper position on shooting sticks”. Great read on quad sticks and off a tri-pod in detail for proper foot and body position for both. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in perfecting this technique.

It was night and day for my own experience with using them correctly and POI.
