Repair it.
You might be able to raise the gouge with a damp wash cloth and a close iron. Once you get it raised, sand it down and oil it.

It depends upon how such a scar/atrocity was acquired.
If it was through carelessness or such that you cannot bear to look at, while I may be slow, like Elmer developing the .41 Magnum, I’d love to acquire it after I acquire a .416 Taylor from a member here.

If I didn’t repair it, it would find its way to the back of the safe. Anschutz are such lovely rifles, definitely worth repairing.

I'd repair it because it is a nice rifle and looks like a perfectly doable fix.
