Winchester Model 70 Alaskan

That's a beautiful rifle in an awesome cartridge Guy. Once again Guy Miner helping lure Nosler Forum folks to the promised land of things we must have! Pretty cool to shoot some of those old Noslers in it. I remember when I first started reloading with my father watching closely that we were loading the old Nosler's like you have in his 7mm Magnum and my 6mm Remington.

Guy,

I know you had some issues with your health that took an African hunt off the table for you a few years ago. Has that been resolved for you now that you are able to travel to Africa?

If this is too personal for a public reply I definitely understand. Feel free to PM me. I also understand if you don’t desire to respond in any way. Just know that I wish you the best for yourself.

Yup. Things have improved and the doc has given me the okay. He's planning a trip to Africa himself and is happy that I'm going.

There are other good options, but I chose this new production Winchester Model 70 Alaskan in 375 H&H. The Alaskan model has a lighter barrel contour than the Safari Express model despite that not being noted on Winchester's website. It gives the rifle handling qualities I prefer. The 1.5-5x Leupold is in quick detach mounts. The cartridge pictured is a handload with the old machine-turned 300 grain Nosler Partition.

How's it shoot? I'll have info on that soon.

Regards, Guy
Beautiful rifle Guy!
