I've got 4 different varmint rifles in various 22 ceterfires, but they all have 1 in 14" barrel twists so I do nicely with both the 50 and 55gr. Nosler Bal.Tips. What about Sierra? They make good, accurate varmint bullets. Do they make anything in the weights you want? I agree about the...
All the comments I've heard about the Noslers out of Bend, Oregon have been favorable. Some copanies I'd be leery of but not Nosler. Best wishes.

My 7mm Rem Mag. performs very well with 160gr. bullets. It has a 1 in
9 1/4 barrel twist. The bullets are Speer which aren't particuarly long. I don't think the key is going to be weight but bullet length. You'll just have to experient to fid what your rifle les with its 1 in 10" twist...
I use the Nosler 120gr Bal.Tip in my Remington 700BDL in 7mm Rem.Mag. and find it's also a very accurate bullet. Mine will reliably group at .69" (5 at 100yds). I load it up with VV560 70grs. This gives me 3150fps., a realy nice load. Best wishes.

I think all of the 6.5 rounds are experiecing a sizable gain in popularity, not merely the 6.5x55. You could probably get a good idea by sending RCBS an email asking them what dies they sell the most of for a recent year. RCBS seems to be about the most popular die maker for most shooters, and...
Is the shot that's out of the group the last shot fired in the group? If you're shooting 3 shot groups is it the 3rd. that ruins your group? If so your barrel may be too hot by the third shot. By the 3rd. shot in a sporter weight barrel, it's already hot. Try taking your time and spacing...
I like IMR4350 in my .25-06 and several other powders as well, like IMR4831 and Rel-19. It performs well with the Nosler Bal. Tips in all weights. Best wishes.

I have a Sako Varminter in .222Rem. Today I'd probably buy one in .22-250 simply because it reaches out a lot further. It is pricey compared to some of the others, but it's very well made, and best of all, it's at least a pound lighter than most of the others. It's a very accurate rifle...
Ok, it's been over a month now, and I finally got it solved. I was using Wilson knockout dies which I really like. The shorter top part of the sizing die screws onto the longer body part of the die. Apparently the screws worked loose, rose up and created quite a wobble in my sized cases. Now...
I'd glassbed the action and first inch of the barrel. I did this with my light, 20" barrel in .308Win., and it improved the accuracy quite a bit. It's still not a tack driver mind you but keeps my groups slightly under an inch (5 at 100yds). I think that's about the best we can hope for...
Of the rifles you mentioned the Savage would appear to be the most accurate. Your preferring a wooden stock seems to throw a couple of flies into the ointment. I'm at an age where a 10lb. varmint rifle is tough on the old body. My latest, a Remington VLS in 6mm Rem. runs about 12lbs., and I...
I recently purchased a CZ452 Lux in .22RF, and I'm wondering about the proper scope to mount on it. The most powerful scopes I've noticed designated as being for .22s is the 3x9. Most of my range shooting will be at 50yds. so that's powerful enough even for these old eyes. I like the Bushnell...
Hats off to Nosler for producing this brass. Our US made brass has become pretty shoddy lately. I think many of the major companies farm the brass out now instead of making it themselves. I also use a lot of Lapua brass which pretty much takes the same pains as Nosler in making it. Best...
I think the single best piece of information for reloaders is to have only the components out you're going to use for a particular cartridge. It's far too easy to screw up when you have more than one can of powder out or other component. Mistakes come easily if you're tired or nervous. Don't...
If you think about it a bit you'll discover you're only measuring to the lands anyway. That's the widest part of the bullet and you're not going any further unless you really force it. Length beyong the lands maximum doesn't matter since it's open space beyond that so you're not touching...
I find the Nosler 85gr. BT works very well in my .25-06 with both IMR4350 and IMR4831 as well. Rel-19 does well in this area also. Best wishes.

I can tell you this, but only about Lapua and Norma. They are amazingly uniform in weight from one rifle case to the next. I switched over to Lapua a couple years ago for this very reason. They are uniform dimensionally as well as in weight. Best wishes.

I use the Stoney Point OAL guage and am quite satisfied with it. It was easy enough to learn to use. How effective is it? I don't really know for certain. There are a number of methods we can use for determining the over all length. Best wishes.

Most of my reloading is neck sized. I prefer to use Redding case lube on the inside of the neck, applied with a Q-tip, then wiped out after resizing. If I'm full length resizing like with military rounds I still use the Redding lube, but wipe it off before putting the cases in the tumbler. No...
I fail to see a problem. A friend sold me a Sako L461 action, blocked off to be a single shot action. I put a Hart SS 24" barrel on it in .222Rem. Mag, and put it in a McMillan fibergrain stock. That sweetie will shoot in the .2"s with great regularity. Most .223s aren't going to come even...
