    Electronic powder dispenser

Thanks, Rich. Helps a lot. A friend of mine bought the Lyman 1000 XP and he says readings sometimes change by .4 grains if he walks away for a few minutes. But maybe he got a 'lemon'. I'm going to place an order for one - unless someone posts a really bad comment in the next day or so.

    Electronic powder dispenser

I am currently loading using a beam scale, powder measure and trickler. Cabela's has the Lyman 1200 DPS II on sale for $220. It automatically dispenses an entered amount of powder. Has anyone on this forum had any experience with this model? I have heard that electronic scales aren't that...

    Savage 204 Ruger?

My current plans are to buy a Savage in 204 Ruger, put the new Simmons 6-24 scope on it then load some 39 grain Sierras for it.

    Savage 204 Ruger?

I'm thinking about buying a Savage Varmint model in 204 Ruger caliber strictly for shooting Prairie Dogs. Any comments? Or suggestions?

    .270 WSM?

My 270 WSM is my antelope gun, so I only load 130s in it. It shoots .5" groups all day long with that load. I put a Richards Dual Grip Thumbhole Walnut stock on it and replaced the cheap Simmons scope with a Cabela's 6.5-20x52 30mm tube scope. My total investment is still under $1000.

    6mm BR Norma Loads

What is your rate of twist? I have a 243 WSSM which has a case similar to the BR. My twist is 1:10 and I like the Hornady 58 gr moly V-Max with H4895 powder. 3950 FPS and .5" groups with a 22" sporter barrel.

    200 grain Accubonds

What was said was that the long 200 grain bullets may not leave enough room for powder if you are trying to achieve the same velocity as other 300 mags. But I can seat bullets out .100" past SAAMI specs in my 300 WSM, so that leaves more room for powder.

Sample Pack of bullets (Box of chocolates)

I don't think 10 bullets would tell me much. It takes nearly 50 bullets for me to work up a load. I guess I'm doing something wrong.

What are some good loads for a .270 wsm or a 325 wsm

My 270 WSM likes 130 SSTs at .003" off the lands. My 300 likes Barnes 165s at .060" and Nosler 165 ABs at .008" off the lands. I'm using RL-19 in the 270 WSM and Win 760 in the 300 WSM. If you want more info, just ask.

Blaine, I second that comparing guns to women. That's exactly how it is.

NOSLER - more weight selection in 224 cal bullets, please.

Thanks for all the help, Guys. The 50 grain bullets in my 1 in 10 twist didn't do worth a hoot. Hornady 60 grain flat base bullets were decent. I 'bit the bullet' and bought some 62 grain Barnes TSXs and I got a .63" group and I'm still developing. But those Barnes are expensive. It appears...

Temp vs powder, primers & loaded ammo

Long, Yes, its getting over 100 in the garage already. You're correct, no humidity. I've thought about moving the whole operation inside, but the wife isn't too keen on those metal shavings from trimming, chamfering, and deburring getting in the carpet. I just installed a ceiling fan in the...

Temp vs powder, primers & loaded ammo

I live in Arizona and have been storing powder, primers, and loaded ammunition in my garage where I do my reloading. It will soon be 100 + degrees. I think I should move powder and loaded ammo inside the air conditioned house. I don't think primers will be bothered by the heat. OPINIONS?

    Ogive measurements

RCBS dies seat (push on the bullet) from just short of the plastic tip on ballistic tip bullets. I wish they pushed close to the ogive. I've checked bullets as well as loaded ammo to the ogive and overall length. Loaded ammo varies in overall length as well as to the ogive. Makes me wonder...

NOSLER - more weight selection in 224 cal bullets, please.

My 223 wssm doesn't like 50 grain bullets. It appears the 1:10 twist isn't right. It shoots better with Hornady 60 grain flat base ballistic tips. So it appears to like longer bullets. But I don't want to go up to 70 grains. Other shooters over at www.wssmzone.com say their 223 wssm's...

    howa 243 ballistic tips

I'm getting gr8 groups using 58 grain Hornady V'Max bullets in my 243 wssm (and lots of velocity). But I sure would like to see a better selection of bullet weights in the 22 / 24 caliber arena.

    Best Varmit rifle/Caliber out there

Roysclock, I've loaded over 300 rounds of wssm ammo and have never had a pinched finger. Whoever said that must be all thumbs. The wssm cases are the same diameter as the wsm cases - just shorter. POP, the 223 wssm is as bad as the 243 wssm is good in my Winchester Super Shadows. I just...

    .270 WSM?

Elkslayer & POP, My local Wal-Mart has a 270 WSM Super Shadow with a cheap Simmons scope on it for $400. You can put a Richards laminated stock on and still only have $550 invested.

    Which varmint rifle?

POP, You say 'Yup' a lot when you agree with a previous post. I was agreeing with Guy's post. But didn't want to infringe on your sayings.

243 WSSM with a Richards stock

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Your cheek rests in that 'saddle' formed by the two points of the cheekpiece. Looking at photos, I didn't particularly like the looks of the stock and definitely thought it would be an uncomfortable stock to shoot from. But I had an opportunity to visit...
