    Barnes MRX - 180gr for 30-06

I have shot and recovered 180 grain TSX, TTSX, and MRX from SEA ICE. They were drive by the the charges of RL19. As might be expected, the TSX and TTSX were virtually indistinguisable (other than the base of the TTSX which had an X stamped on the base of the bullet that the TSX did not). While I...

    Brass with "ejector marks"?

The marks are on the brass only - bolt face of the .300 WSM is blemish-free. The twice-fired brass has only been used in this one rifle. I am 100% certain the marks are from the ejector-hole - the edges of the faint marks are perfectly circular and they occur where the ejector hole would be...

    Brass with "ejector marks"?

Yes, the primer pockets are seemingly still tight. I amdworking on loads using IMR4350 (65.5 grains max) with 180 grain Barnes TTSXs. 64.5 grains was the most accurate load. Next "project" is to verify the load and then work on trying different seating depths.

    Brass with "ejector marks"?

I am preparing to reload twice-fired brass and I've just noticed very faint ejector marks on some of them (indication of overpressure). Is it safe to reload this brass? Again, the ejector marks are very faint. Thanks.

    Load Redevelopment after accurizing?

Hi there, I have finally found a load that will give me MOA level accuracy in my Rem700 .300 WSM. I am somewhat satisfied but I am considering having my barrel free-floated and the action glass bedded. Will this require load redevelopment (i.e., start from step 1)?

    Chamber Length and case trimming

I am planning on ordering the Sinclair Chamber Length Gauge and as such, I have a question - If you know the exact length of your chamber, do you trim to that length or do back if off slightly?

    Trimming

I trim every time to 2.090 trim length after after every use (yes, I also own a .300 WSM). Does it improve accuracy - I don't know - probably not. Do I mind it? No! In fact because reloading is a hobby, I quiet enjoy it - plus increased consistency in my case length could not hurt (even if it...

    300 WSM+ Max Loads+RL17?

Has anybody worked up to max loads for a 300 WSM for 180 g bullets using reloader 17? What was this max load? I used Alliant's data and worked up to a Max load of 66 grains using 180 grain Barnes TTSX's. Other than very light, barely noticable ejector marks at the max loading, I had no other...

    copper wont go away

I used to get frustrated by the same thing (never ending greenish-bluish patches). However, here's what I do, and seems to work (these steps adapted from a 2007 "Field and Stream" book on rifle maintenance). 1) saturate patch with hoppes#9 (best with loop type jag), 2) WET barrel with hoppes...

    dumb questions

I too am a relative newcomer, and share many of your questions. However, from my research, here are some of the answers I have found. Preferred distance to lands is a function of the bullet, not the powder, case, primer etc. In other words, the preferred distance to the lands using the same...

RCBS case trimmer with Neck-turner attachment

Hi Folks, Anybody have any helpful suggestions for using the Neck turner attachment for the RCBS manual case trimmer. I am getting frustrated in trying to use this thing. I am finding that neck pilot/Reamer is so tight in the neck that turning necks has become a two step process. 1st step -...

150 gr BT, .300 WSM and Reduced loads

Thanks folks - I believe I now have the info to experiment with some reduced recoil loads. I was very interested in BearClan's guideline for H4895 and contacted Hodgdon's to confirm it - it is true. However, I am still awaiting a reply for another question I had about H4895 - is it possible to...

150 gr BT, .300 WSM and Reduced loads

I know there is post regarding reduced loads. However, I was wondering if anyone has a reduced load recipe using a 150 gn Ballistic Tip bullets (I have 6 boxes/300 bullets that need using). Interested in developing a .300 WSM whitetail load for my daugher at recoils levels mimicing a 30-30 -.308...

    Moose - 165/168 gr or 180 gr?

I plan on hunting the Eastern Canadian Moose next fall. Normally, I would have selected a 180 grain bullet for my .300 WSM. However, one source (Barnes site) suggests it is acceptable, and perhaps even preferable, to select a lower weight bullet IF USING A PREMIUM BULLET - The reason being lower...

    Neck Runout Question

Thanks for the info - much appreciated. The brass is new, but was resized in an RCBS FL die (to remove dents in neck). Also, I am 2/3rd through my barrel break-in process (e.g., 1 shot+clean for 10 cycles, 3 shots+clean for 5 cycles, 5 shots+clean for 3 cycles. I am using Barnes CR-10 (BTW - I...

    Neck Runout Question

I am loading for a .300 WSM Remington 700. I haven't actually fired a single round for accuracy (partway throught barrel break-in process). I am new to reloading and find the attention the details such as neck runout "fun" (I am a scientist by training).

    Neck Runout Question

I just watched a video on youtube on case selection (video by ammosmith.com). On this video, it states to divide your maximum and minimum measures for neck concentricity by two to get the amount of neck runout. E.g., Max measure = .005'; Min measure = .000 on the RCBS casemaster gauge means a...

    Neck Turning Question

I guess I should have didsome research on this RCBS product. Came across similar complaints about this product. Oh well - live and learn (just wish it didn't have to pay for such "learning).

    Neck Turning Question

I just received the neck turning attachment for my RCBS Trim-pro manual case trimmer. Unfortunately, the instructions don't give any guidance as to how much brass should be trimmed from the necks. I am shooting a .300 WSM (using Winchester Brass). How does one determine how much brass should be...

RL19 loads for Barnes 150 gr TTSX?

Thanks POP, I didn't know how to read this charts (and was a little hesistant to ask lest I expose my ignorance). However, I just discovered you "Sticky" on how to read such these Quickload Charts. Very informative. However, this chart is a little different - where should I start. I would...
