New barrel is on the way

I have a 1-8.5" poly 6.5mm barrel chambered in 264 win with a turn neck. It is a medium palma weight 31" and is a tackdriver. It's limited to 3050FPS, I can't seem to keep the pressure down on it. It has 100 rounds thro it and is limited to the velocities that my 26" winchester 70 would reach...

New barrel is on the way

Well, I have built a custom once before and was sorely disappointed with the results. So, I went back to the drawing board and tried again. Ordered a 30" Pac Nor Super Match SS barrel with a 1-12" twist prefit for the 6.5mm RUM. My objective is to be able to hunt coyotes at 800-1200yds with...

    Elk rifle for a lady???

I'd say a weatherby ultralight in 270 wby or 280AI, The 280 only weighs 5.75lbs. and a brake is a factry option. I know I can't afford one, but they fit the bill the best. I found the T3 tikka in a ss/syn to be a very rigid rifle that had severe recoil chambered in a 300 win and I am not recoil...

    Norinco handguns

Well, I ended up buying a Norinco 1911A1-C Commander and trading for a second one. The first was the stubby beavertail model in parkerized finish and it shot very well. The second one is the high gloss full beavertail model. They both shot very well. I ended up keeping the full beavertail model...

    Still scratching 257 wby

Forester makes a decent hand held unit too, but I think you're on the right track neck turning. I have a plain Wby Vanguard Sporter and it shoots 1/2 MOA consisitently with neck turned 7mm brass that has been resized and fireformed. On the intial and subsequent uses. Your Christensian should be...

I Love To Walk And Call Coyotes - Something new coming:) :)

Oh yeah, I couldn't hit a round bale with mine for the most part   I sold it rather than trying to find a NM trigger for it. I guess I'm spoiled with my bolt triggers. JT.

I Love To Walk And Call Coyotes - Something new coming:) :)

NICE AR, the flip up rear sights are nice. I had an ARMS flip up with the small and large apeture on my LH Stag. I always figured that front flip up would be so much nicer for the scope too. Are you putting a rail spacer on it to bring the scope up to a normal eye relief?? JT.

    Something in 9.3

The 9.3X62 Mauser is supposed to be a fairly potent round. It has that classic 375 H&H, 2500FPS flair to it. A big bullet at a decent velocity, I can't see why it wouldn't make an excellent moose rifle. I'd be interested in how that round performs.

    Another satisfying afternoon.

Good shooting, hopefully you can get out to compete. Judging by those groups, you should do well. JT.

Anybody buy dies for a gun they hope to get??

I did that once and now have 200 rnds of 40 S&W loaded with a cast 175 grain TWC bullet that wouldn't shoot well in the Para 1640 i used to have. JT

    Winchester M70 .264WM

i used to load Retumbo and a 130 AB in a pre 64 M70. It shot really well, was 3300FPS with a 26" barrel. That was a max load tho. JT.

    Introducing Black Widow (Elvira)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That much room on the press would be nice even for the RUM family of rounds. Can't really go wrong fpr $85.

Anybody buy dies for a gun they hope to get??

This stupid savage had my attention when I first built it, now that I got a barrel wrench things could get interesting. I did manage to locate a savage 110 bolt with a 30-06 boltface too. JT.

Anybody buy dies for a gun they hope to get??

Am I the only guy who has a few odd calibers that I want to own someday and when I see dies for it I'll buy them and they sit on my bench for often a long time before seeing use. Just waiting to buy or build the rifle for the dies. Presently, I have dies for: 17 rem, 243 AI, 8mm-06. Also, I...

What could I expect from a 6mm WSM??

The 240 gibbs doesn't have the cool factor a 6mm with that fat WSM case does, but 06 brass doesn't have the ouch factor that WSM brass does..... :? I wasn't aware that the 240 Gibbs went that fast. That would mean that a 115 DTAC should go around 3250FPS, exactly where I want it to go. With...

What could I expect from a 6mm WSM??

THe 240 Gibbs is a great round, as is the 240 wby and 243 AI. All needing a .473 boltface, and I've got is a 0.532". So, I need either a new bolt or to choose something with a .532 boltface if I want to get a second barrel for my savage. There are alot of good options, but the gaps to fill in my...

    Introducing Black Widow (Elvira)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the 220 grn HRNDY would be cheaper, but am not sure that it would generate enough pressure to form with. I looked at them to form for my 375 ICL, but that is not nearly the thickness of brass you are working with. JT
