    Barnes TSX FAILURES.

Jeff, Why are you hunting with Barnes bullets if they won't shoot for beans? Also, What did that bullet hit inside of the deer? I have never ever seen a deer run anywhere near that far when hit with a 358 Win.

7 mm Rem Mag 120 grain Hornady Bullets

Its only one box of cheap bullets. Just load them up and practice this spring with them. Try to cut a coyote in half. Look up loads on powder mfg sites.

    .280AI Brass problems?

I expected what your finding to happen when Nosler announced an fireformed cartridge. The thing is that your chamber, if done right, is minus .004" to the nominal on a standard 280 Rem case and who knows what Nosler is making the new 280 AI brass to, what its dimensions are, its tolerances or...

    Perfect reticle alignment

Getting the crosshairs right is not one of my strong points! I think that I have improved the job since I started sighting on the vertical freezer at the other end of the basement.

Rick, Congratulations on getting that game. Take care and have a great evening.

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

Rick, Here is the thread on the latest fiasco with belted cases that I mentioned above. "Well I realy thoght it was just winchester cases but I was resizing some 416rem. And after messuering the sholder on Virgin brass it is .043 off ( short) its like I need to fire form the dang stuf to get...

    Regular or competition dies??

Rick, It seems that you just don't understand whats going on. Sorry that we can't get together on this.

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

Rimless fireformed cartridges such as invented by Lysle Kilbourn and copied later by Ackley and Huntington properly headspace on the junction of the neck and shoulder with .004" negative headspace. So if this is done right there is really no headspace and these work out ok. The belted improved...

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

Its not living on the edge Rick. Its just understanding that the design of a belted bottlenecked case needs more clearance at the shoulder due to the accumulation of design tolerances. If you had the drawings, which it seems that you still don't and that you could read them or get someone to...

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

Me verbally whipped?? Your making that up as a debate tactic. Everything that I wrote about the design defect in belted bottlenecked cartridges is 100% correct and has been agreed with by anyone who cares to investigate the facts and not just say that they don't understand it.

    Regular or competition dies??

Rick, Have you figured out the chamber and cartridge drawings yet? Or maybe you still don't have them? I lube my cases with my fingers very carefully. I do it right on the edge of not getting them them stuck with the one Redding die that I am still stuck with. They dent just below the...

    Regular or competition dies??

The so called competition seating dies are nice but a waste of money for regular shooting. I have them and I don't bother to even read them anylonger. As for seating VLD bullets any seater stem can be easily modified. All this is not to say that inline dies like Wilsons might not do a little...

    Scope problem???

When accuracy is off the cause might be anything and even more than one thing. Since you suspect the scope you have to try another scope on that rifle. If you have an optical bore sighter you can check the scopes tracking with it.

Time to rebarrel - What caliber?

Recut the crown first after going thru the usual things on accuracy improvement. See my post in Nosler Reloading on how to do it yourself.

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

I would look more at the rifle than the cartridge. Today there is at least one nice light rifle made in the WSM's. Maybe you don't want a light rifle however but I do. The 300 WM is very popular and larger than the 300 WSM however it seems as if the 300 WSM has caught on and will stay. The...

    Kimber 8400?

I have been shooting a Kimber 8400 Montana in 270 WSM for a couple of years. Its one of my favorite rifles and must have about 800 shots through it now. Mine is one of the first ones and has the abrubt feed ramp but it still feeds ok. The stock could have a little more grip to the finish...

    Barrel shot out?

"The method that I use now to recut a crown is to put this Dremel grinding bit in a battery powered variable speed 3/8" drill. I place the tapered wheel in the muzzle when its not rotating. Then I start the drill and turn it right off again. I leave the wheel lightly pressing into the crown the...

    Barrel shot out?

From my experience I have seen barrels with 5" ripped out that would still shoot well under MOA. What you need is a good crown. Crowns get damaged. Learn to cut your own crown. There is a thread on AR on how to do it. Wally Siebert makes a mini bore scope that sees throats really well...

    30-06 Ackley Improved really humming

So whats the velocity with that RL 25 load? Did you try a drop tube? Finally having been there and done that I am now stuck with three improved chambers. Not that it was not fun when I got them. One of them is a 30-06 improved. No knowing what the pressures are? I get 75 fps more out of my...
