My 300 is my favorite rifle to hunt with. Overkill for most game, but its a love hate thing with this rifle...I love to shoot it and hate to put it away :)
Thanks goodness I found more Retumbo as I was just getting ready to go to RL-33. Not a bad thing, just change...
The only complaint my...
Had some modified 700 triggers. One on the -06 failed and would go off once the safety was released. The local range master told me I am not the only he has seen that happen to. Probably related to the same gunsmith... who knows. With that:
My 700's now have Timney's, Schillens and...
Diver- I tried Retumbo in my wife's 7mm-08 and did no go so well using 140g Accubonds. Settled on Varget for that rifle. If memory serves correctly and don't use this without verification, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 40g of retumbo.
Good Luck

Today means, that in exactly 6 months, hello elk camp.
Getting some cabin fever up in here. Getting close to that time of year when we get to be one with the Wapati
Anyone else got the fever?
I think the AO is a joke, or it was for me. I spent more time peeking over the tip of the scope to make sure it was adjusted correctly.
I use a fixed parallax scope to hit hit yotes to 400 yards with no problem.
I say, if your rifle/scope combo is hitting on all cylinders and you are...
Now this topic hits home for me. I was not a swapper until the last couple of years. 1st Rifle swap:
- My sweetheart 30-06. Up until two years ago, it had a redfield scope that my dad put on it in '81. It got to the point of uselessness because it would fog up with a little bit of humidity...
Let us know how it turns out. I am thinking of purchasing a Knight this spring, and i have heard of a similar situation with a 54 cal and it got shipped back not repaired.
Thanks

This load was sweet. 35 g and the recoil was a lot less than I anticipated. I got a group of about 1 3/4" at 100 yards with the iron sites. Worked great! Thanks for that.
Next on the docket, some 170g lead and some Varget down the tube
More to come
Thanks all. All we have is about 8 150 grain core-lokt rounds. So I am actually excited about trying some heavier bullets and getting this rifle back to its former glory.
One more project to kill some time this winter
