Since Retumbo seems to be non-existent, I am looking for some of your other powder type/loads you use with this caliber. Here are my specs:
Nosler Brass
Fed 215M primers
200g. AB
Remington 700 Sendero 26" Barrel with a brake
I have my dope charts out to 900 yards and never shot that far. I...
I echo what c-ne said. I shot my whitetail buck with a -06 and a 180g. Accubond this year. The exit hole was about the size of a golf ball maybe a little larger and that sold me. Plus the fact the blood trail was like a highway stripe.
I used the partition. Loved them as well...but...
My wife's XCR has over 600 rounds down the factory tube. She can still group 2" - 3" AT 400 yards with it.
I sold a SFII after I had put over 200 rounds down it. I bought it with an unknown amount of rounds down the tube, but the guy I bought it from was proud of the fact that he could fry...
This is my reasoning besides that I shoot about 100 - 500 of these rounds every time we go out. I just get tired of reloading 200 + rounds every weekend on the single stage, messing with one die to seat and crimp. I don't mind buying more dies, but the single stage press has my right arm...
For those that use progressive presses to reload handgun ammo or 223, do you crimp and seat at the same time, or do you use separate dies for this?
Next question, do you or have you used a RCBS progressive or do you feel there is a better unit? Not looking for anything automated, just a press...
Well, this is something. After taking the dies apart, I decided to measure the ball. As luck would have it, it is larger by a few thousands. I purchased another ball and rod, and it works smooth as butter. I never thought the old one which was new, would be larger than it should be.
So I...
Yes, I thought that was it, but it is straight. I have bought one that was a little tweeked out of the package before, so there is a possibility.
Thanks
We just worked up a load with the fed 215m primers in a Weatherby 7mm-08 and Varget. With WLR primers, 42.5 grains of this powder and a 140g Accubond the rifle was very accurate. With the same bullet and powder and the 215m primer, we are getting the same accuracy with a charge of 41 grains...
Holy smokes, it only took a short time and now, there are little to no primers locally. That was quick. Now BR2 primers are now $79 per thousand at another retailer.
Looks like I waited a little to long.
I was sizing some Federal brass, and on the upward stroke, the expander ball was really tough to get out of the shell. I tore apart the full length sizer die, cleaned the expander ball, and the same thing, a pretty hard drag. I lubed the expander and it really helped, but this is not normal...
Thanks for all of the input. One of the main reasons I like this board so much.
Kodiak: I can get the BR2's for about $43.99/ thousand but the supply is going quickly, so it looks like I will be buying a few tomorrow. I was paying about that if not a little more for the 210M's.
Happy...
