that was a decent deal. I saw that a couple weeks or so ago. I bought one of those back in the late 80's. I turned it into a 280 AI last year..
never mind my post, I thought it was a different rifle at a dealer. The one I saw still had a Win trigger tag, new rifle.
Thanks Dr. Mike
I've shot the 220 for many years now. This will be my 3rd Swift. Best powder so far has to be H-380. This is a 9 twist barrel so I really wasn't sure if it would blow apart lead core varmint bullets or not. I have to use lead free stuff so I had been shooting barnes varmint...
I just finished this Rem 700 in 220 Swift yesterday. Blue printed action, 26" Shilen 5.5 contour tube. H.S. Precision stock and a Leupold 6.5-20 30mm glass with the varmint hunter reticle.
Just to give all a heads up. I found the problem with this 375H&H Classic Model 70(and it wasn't the rifle). I was about to pull the bases off and mill some material off the bottom of the front base. It dawned on me to check one more thing before cutting metal. Mind you, this was a new out of a...
Thx...Most of the base/ring makers use to have serial number for Win 70 bases. I'm not really seeing much of that at all anymore. That's one of the problems. You just can't look at base charts anymore and get a pick of heights(unless you have a link to share). I'm just going to use a small fly...
Thanks for the thoughts...3 different sets of bases(2 Warne, 1 Leupold), 3 different sets of hand lapped rings(1 Warne and 2 Leupold), 2 different rifles. I'm starting to narrow down the problem to Winchester of old possibly being not too consistant in giving Base/Ring makers correct specs. On...
The problem with Glock bbls is this: In order to feed about anything thru them, they leave unsuported cases. Look at some of your fired cases with Glocks, many will have the old "smiley face" on them. I love my Glocks but be aware that can be an issue with the higher pressure rounds like the 40...
I have a G29 and like it a lot. The 29 isn't has bad as other Glocks as far as unsupported cases go but I did manage to get one case rupture with it. I changed out bbls on the 29 and the 27..
I just put a set on my Kimber Ultra carry along with 24/7 Big dot sights. The Crimson trace is in "chainmail" that goes very good with the stainless slide/bead blasted frame.
I saw a brand new Colt Gold Cup last summer, never fired that had 0.020" loose breech on it. I wasn't impressed. I have an older Kimber Ultra Carry that's rock solid.
On the 375 Classic, they can't be switched, different hole patterns. The Featherweight pushfeed have different radiuses from front to rear so aside from the obvious height differences, the mounts would have lots of gap if switched.. I tried two different sets of Warne mounts on the...
