Thanks , I suppose how I wrote my post would lead one think I broke it , oops.
I meant , I know one of the reasons why sometimes they break.
I'm new to this stuff and I was just seeing how all this works using some cases I won't be reloading.
I have some RCBS dies , seater, neck, FL and a...
I paid premium money for Rem. Scirocco for 3006 to find flash holes off center , I thought something was wrong with my new equipment.
I guess this is why
decapping pins break !
Is there a way to remove the pin and still use the expander button ?
About uniforming your primer pockets, what depth are you cutting to ?
I have the rcbs and it's factory set at .132 "
I will be using WLR primers for 3006.
I'm concerned about cutting too deep.
Thanks .
In fact, I feel that if a rifle doesn't shoot a BT, it is
an issue with the rifle.
Jd338, I think you have answered my question I've been wanting to know about factory ammo accuracy.
They say whatever your rifle likes , (with a good rifle) , now I'm thinking it's whoever makes CONSISTENT...
What primers would you cut a deeper pocket for with a nosler case ?
Using the probe from my calipers on my nosler pockets I get .125 - 128 " depth.
My WLR primers are .128 " to the anvil .
What do you think ?
Thanks guys , I guess all this detailed stuff I read about is for bench rest / competition shooting.
The way I understand it is, you reach accuracy before you reach max loads.
I question these things with safety in mind for the most part really.
Thanks again ,Ray
I have read that when weighing brass , start with the heavier pieces and use them for your minimum charge and work your way up in charge weight to the lighter brass since the lighter brass has more volume.
Once you find your accurate load with the lighter brass , can you use that load with...
Your right , I looked at the oal length , AB 165 gr. is 1.308 and the BT is 1.290 " =.018" difference but have the same weight . I wonder if there is a difference in ogives ?
I'll have to check it out .
Shooting factory ammo, I know that a 150 gr scirocco and a 150 gr interlock will be about 5" apart from one another being on the same windage with my rifle.
One being a tip boattail and a soft point.
it seems like this combo is like magic , no matter what rifle you shoot in .
I started a thread when I first came aboard about everyone's load data and this seems like a winner.
I have read that good cases and bullets matter the most , I don't how true that is.
Can you fine tune any powder...
OK , IMR 4350 is the load high lighted, for the 3006 165 gr.
The card doesn't have the high lighted data . I forget that all data shows most accurate loads.
I will have to check out what your saying about the low sd with H4350
