good looking cubbies , JD . I had a few cubbies out for bobcats too . I didn't catch during the season . I had caught , and released two before the season came in . they are all business . I had a couple guys with me on the first release . that cat took a swipe at us before he went on his...
if anyone on here is trapping , I'd like to talk over a few things . this is my first year back at it , since high school I think my season started out pretty good , and then just hit a wall around mid December . I'm not sure if I had too many traps out , and the animals got wise to me, or...
I do think these ABLR's are a finicky bullet . my advice is , if things in your combo look like they should work , but it doesn't , move on . I sure wouldn't beat myself up trying , there are other bullets out there that shoot well and more easily to get shooting well .
I like to work around 105% case fill , at max PSI . here is a powder list that might help you decide on where to go next , it looks like RL17 was tops for velocity in this combo .
Cartridge : .308 Win. (SAAMI)
Bullet : .308, 178, Hornady ELD-X 3074
Useable Case Capaci...
it is on the slow side . a max pressure load will be at 112% case fill . that's more than I care to work with .

I have one rifle with a Shilen barrel , it's the 260 Rem I bought for my grandson . I've been nothing but impressed with it . it is probably the most consistent shooting rifle I've worked with . it shoots every bullet I've tried . usually load development starts out at under an inch and...
I was catching up on some unread emails today and stumbled into this .

that's a link to a thread I posted on neck turning a while ago . since I made that thread I've bought a nicer neck turning tool . I'm now using the 21 century tool , not the lathe set up . it's a lot easier to adjust than the Forester . the...
I have a good feeling on the ABLR bullets since this past season . I was a little undecided on what to expect on a close range , high speed impact shot . I high shoulder shot a whitetail in Kansas at about 30 - 40 yards . the buck had a nice body size . it was the heaviest , at the butcher...
I agree , the Nosler recommend twist is too slow for good results on the ABLR's . Brian the guy from Berger bullets tested these when they first came out . the Nosler BC rating was much lower than advertised , but when he ran them through a fast twist barrel the BC was pretty darned close ...
I have not used any recently produced Norma brass . I've been using some older 7mm-08 Norma brass , it has been fantastic . I've read the older Norma brass was soft and primer pockets expanded to easily . the stuff I'm using is tough , and I would buy it again .
I use my local true value store for handling the FFL paper work , on my shipped in purchases . my local gun shops add a premium to the paper work fee , for not buying the rifle through them .
I didn't see big game powder on that list , here it is separately . looks to be a good choice

I've seen this brass for sale , but I've never tried it , I have very good results with Lapua brand brass in my 338 Lapua .if it's available , I don't have a reason to try anything else .
.005" per side neck clearance is way more than enough . the looser this is the more it works the case neck , and allows carbon to build on the outside case neck more easily . you only "need" enough clearance for the neck to expand and release the bullet . but you should allow enough...
hope you get feeling better soon . I also hope you enjoy Alaska , I'd sure like to experience it .
I got something a couple days after Christmas . chest hurts from coughing , not much of an appetite , play out very easy , sweats and chills , can take a nap anytime . had achy muscles for...
