    Really???

I was told by a friend that owns a sporting goods store, that powder prices were up 30% this year from the distributors.

    6.5 grendel scope

Hard to go wrong with a 2-7, 2.5-8, 3-9, 3.5-10, 4-12 or 4.5-14 for it. Just depends on what you plan to use it for, and where.

    Archery Moose

Or a couple of ThermoCells! I don't go into the bush without these anymore! (Although, I haven't seen how they do on the blackflies as yet...perhaps you can give us a report!) Taking moose with a bow is fun! And with calling them in close, you might want to try with a recurve!

Saving my 250-Savage- is it worth it? Talk me out of it.

CL, being the quarterbore fan you are, you could always go with the 250 AI (40 degree shoulder), otherwise the exact same case as the 25 Creedmoor...or even the 2Fity Hillbilly. But then again, the 250 Savage is a great cartridge...just under-appreciated by the less informed new shooters of...

    At what Pressure

Interesting to note the disparity from the various sources...and some given in CUP, while others in PSI...would be nice if it was all in one pressure type for consistency. I have always heard that the 45-70 load data for the Ruger No.1 was approaching (but not getting as heavy as) 458 Win mag...

    At what Pressure

If I recall correctly, the older Hornady reloading manuals having heavier load data for the 45-70 for Marlin lever actions that was safe (but not for other makes that did not have the same action design giving the Marlin that extra strength), and with lighter loads for the Trapdoors and heavier...

    Booked It!-now what rifle?

Originally, my wife was going to take her 7mm-08 for her sable and springbok, and I was going to take my 338 Federal for kudu, nyala and bushbuck. After our experience in New Zealand on red stag, fallow buck and Arapawa rams, and then my caribou last fall, using the Federal 6.5 Creedmoor...

    300 H&H first try

When all goes right, it only takes one in the vitals to kill cleanly... And if you need just one follow up shot, a couple of your groups had two pretty much in hole; now that's accurate! That third shot not far out of the group may not be as pretty, but it will still kill if placed properly, if...

    Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter...

Nice! Always liked the stainless/pepper laminate!

    sako

Very nice! If I wasn't still working on final funding of my Africa and Colorado hunts this year.... And GB's site won't allow me to update my account info so I can place bids right now...and they won't respond to e-mail requests for assistance... :poop:

    Reloading Logs

I use a hardcover notebook for at the range to document the info from my chronograph, and transfer the data to my Excel spreadsheet when I get home. I too use a different tab for each cartridge in the spreadsheet. (Have tabs for 22LR up through 444 Marlin) I use Hornady's Ballistic Calculator...

Little range time with 6.5 Creed

After handoading with the good Dr for a number of years, I too have learned to do a better job of taking notes for my handloading and each loads performance. Still not at the same level as Mike, but definitely better than I used to.

    LH 358 Win

My BLR in 358 Win wears a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5x20 and has provided over 20 years of good service on that rifle. As the 20" barrel on that lever action only produces 2209 fos with the Speer 220 gr Hot Cor FP, and I can hit fist sized rocks with the cross hairs still on the rock at 250 yards, it...

    LH 358 Win

Yeah, but then you would be tempted to start shooting left handed and I would never see it again! (After all, left handed shooters, are in their right minds!) And your 35 Whelen AI would be jealous! Don't know that I could do that to one of your favourite rifles!;)

35 Whelen or 35 Whelen AI

A tough question (to AI, or not to AI) that only you can answer in the end. Most of the pros and cons have already been stated above. If you are not concerned about conserving the originality of your firearm and not worried that the barrel stamp won't match the new chambering (although...

    LH 358 Win

Oh, I am not giving up toting the ol' BLR, still too fun to shoot and hunt, and too many memories!

    LH 358 Win

After years of having a stainless/wood LH 358 Win bolt action on the Bucket List, I have finally finished the quest. I had picked up a LH Rem 700 someone had built on a DM stainless action, but had altered a RH Rem 700 stock to LH and then painted it. The barrel is a 22" McGowan SS w/ 1:12...

Little range time with 6.5 Creed

Hell, I'd be happy with groups like that at 100 yards! Very nice! Gonna have to change your handle to TD264!

180gr Accubond Recovered From Red Stag

Too bad they discontinued WXR as it is a good performer. I borrowed load data from DrMike and have great results with it in my 300 WSM; 69.5 gr in WW cases, with WLMR primers, and 180 gr AccuBonds produces 2978 fps (SD of 7) and 0.442" groups @ 100 yards from my rifle with a 23 1/2" barrel...

    .22 Long rifle picks

I had previously posted in another thread, but will post here again...with updated info. I decided that I would like to try this LR 22 stuff out, and plus I have always wanted a LH 22 rifle capable of great accuracy. I purchased the Bergara B-14R LH Trainer Carbon Rifle (18" Bbl), put a...
