The 180gr TTSX shot very well and will be my hunting load in the woods this year. The 225gr BT flat out shoot out of my CVA 35 Whelen. 250gr Hornadys have been a struggle.
I went and dug out some of those 180gr TTSX and they measure .357”. Next I measured some 225gr BT and .357”. Then I moved onto some .338 TTSX 210 and 225 both measure .337” and the same with 300gr CC.

From experience the 180gr AB with a muzzle velocity of 3500fps will make a big hole in any whitetail. AB are a stout bullet that needs some extra horsepower behind it.
To me it looks like overpriced loaded lead tip ammo. According to Hornady those lead tips would melt at long range😁
A little late in the year for a new offering when most hunters have their loads worked up and ready for the field.
If not already done , a good barrel scrubbing is in order. IMR 3031 is a good choice for the 30-30. Work up to 31grs with 150gr bullet and you should find a load.
Today I got around making holes in paper with the Savage. I thru on a Weaver 3x9 I had laying around. This side mounted scope base is a little higher than I like. The trigger has a lot of creep built into it. I’m impressed by this little guy.
