Sounds like a an easy method, but a question. If you are measuring from the bullet tip, not the ogive and many bullets of the same brand and lot are different lengths, won't that give you inconsistent measurements? Or am I picturing this wrong? Thanks.
This!
Another member and I were just talking about this.
I started doing it that way years ago, probably before Hornady made their tool. For some reason I just use the Hdy tool now.
My Tikka is an 8 twist 22-250. My coyote load is a 63g Absolute Hammer and target load is a 70g Nosler RDF, both shoot under 1/2" at 100 and have the same poi.
To me it's the rifle more than the caliber. My first rifle in the early 70's was a 30-06 m70, I still have the rifle but now it's a 25-06. I bought a Browning A-bolt ss 270 in the early 80's when I was hunting and packing on horseback, harvested a lot of game with it but didn't care for the...
Hammers do an excellent job killing, I've shot 3 coyotes, 2 with 22-250 and 1 with 243. 2 DRT, one ran a little ways, my fault I hit him too far back. I also have Hammers loaded in my 280 and just recently in my 25-06.
I've been shooting Barnes for a lot of years, and Etips as well, the thing...
That one won't be anymore trouble, nice shooting. Boy, he is dark.
I shot 2 last month, but they are mangy flea and tick infested critters around he as well.
I used Retumbo in my 25-06 until I bought 12 lbs of RL26 several years ago. I now use 26 not only in my 25-06, but in my 280 Rem with 150g AB and 243 with several bullets. Great accuracy and velocity.
I do the same thing. I was searching for 25-06 brass and I stumbled across this place, I'm good on primers and powder, but a friend is in need of primers. I thought I had better ask before forwarding him their website. Good thing I did. Thank again for the replies.
