Big fan of the 9.1x63 Whelen! I'll carry mine more next year, love that gun since it's lightweight, accurate and is the best handling gun I own. Your 375 would be good too, I would use something like a 250 gr TTSX.
Moose and cars are a bad mix doesn't go well for anyone involved.
Good looking buck! His neck sure is swelled up already. The bullet did very well. If I ever see a guy carrying a bright orange rifle I'll come over and introduce myself. Like the looks of it.
In Canada lots with the 303 British, I bet that round has taken as many species of game around the world as the 30-06 has. I would imagine you're right about the 30/40 Krag especially in the US.
Sounds like she listened very well to your training over the years. From your story she sure didn't waste any time when she got the go ahead and placed the shot perfectly!
Those would definitely hang together very well with the crimping near the base and a double cannelure. I'm sure quite a few moose and deer were taken with those over the years.
Imperial KKSP (Kling Kor Soft Point) it was made in Canada by Imperial which was also known as Dominion before that. They also made a plastic tip bullet called the Sabre Tip and this could be a combination of both of those. Wish they still were around.
Congratulations, looks good. I like the 6.5x55 too, it's easy to find a good load with it. The 120 gr Ballistic Tip shoots well in my wife's gun with H 4350. Almost anything we put through it shoots well.
If it fills a need for a loaner gun then keep it. Sounds like it functions well and is reasonably accurate. If you find something you like better later then maybe unload it then.
That TTSX load would be really useful. I mostly have used 130 gr and heavier but did try the 100 gr Partition with Varget to take a blacktail deer. Worked well, short run and a decent sized exit wound. The Barnes would work just a well.
