Trying something new!

Good luck on your hunts Muleman and Salmonchaser!
The 270 WSM will definitely do the job on one of those whitetails!
Definitely some good deer and moose hunting in the Grande Prairie area; have hunted there a fair bit myself while living in Hythe and Grande Prairie several years back.
I am about 3 hours away, but may be there today or tomorrow to look at a LH Fierce Carbon Rogue Rifle at Barton's Big Country; might be pulling the trigger on that (so to speak! LOL).
If you're still in the area and not busy hunting, would be great to meet up for a quick visit!

Had a great trip! The rifle and load worked perfectly and the outfitter was excellent.
I was a bit early for the full rut but they started running does the last day I hunted.
Didn’t get a lot of pictures of the buck because I shot him at last light and we had coyotes and a grizzly in the near vicinity and had to remove him from the area quickly. I shot him at 429yds. Several much larger bucks showed on the cameras the next day and the racks hung the barn I could do much better if I hunted a week or two later next time.IMG_3984.jpegIMG_3996.jpeg

Congrats on your whitetail!
The weather has been pretty warm here for November, and that would have impacted the rut behaviour of our deer as well...colder temps seem to get them fired up more. More snow on the ground would also help, as you would have been able to see tracks and scrapes easier, for patterning those bucks.
Still, successfully taking a mature whitetail under these less than perfect conditions is still cause for celebration!
Have a safe trip home!

Congratulations on your buck, he is a dandy.

Congratulations, he's a good looking buck and it sounds like you had a great time!

Big whitetails there, good luck! Hope you have lots of warm clothes lol. Bonus points for your fast twist 270 WSM, when a gun likes the 165 gr ABLR it's one of the best 277 cal bullets out there. How long is your barrel? Seems like good speed already. tu
Thanks!
