In the next ten years I am hoping to use the following cartridges on as wide of a variety of big game as possible:
.22-250 Rem
.25-20 WCF
.25-35 WCF
.250-3000 Savage
.25-06 Rem
.264 Win Mag
.270 Win
.284 Win
7mm-08 Rem
7x57mm
.300 Savage
.308 Win

They always did well from my 8mm Rem Mag. Sierra claims they designed that bullet especially for the 8mm Rem Mag. They should be a perfect elk bullet in your .325!
As others have amply stated, you are on the right track. Seems like all you need to do now is make room in your freezer.
In my experience the .300 Win Mag is pretty easy to do load development for and that 200 grain Accubond is a darn good bullet.
I wish that Winchester would have offered the M71 in some additional calibers. As interesting and cool as the .348 is, I think they would have sold more rifles if there had been other options.
I had a .270 WSM on a Remington 700 SPS back in the day. Loved the cartridge but that rifle was a lemon. Feeding issues, extraction and ejection issues, bedding issues. Ugh.
Anyways, I never could get the 3000 fps from factory or handloads and 150 grain bullets so just shot 130’s at 3200-3250...
I may be in a bit of a .30-06 rut too Guy. But I just love the danged cartridge and rifle so much, it makes no sense to not utilize it as much as possible. As you can see I’ve used other stuff too:
2024 -
Cow Elk - .300 WSM (hopefully successful)
2023 - Oregon
Unsuccessful Buck deer - .270...
So partly due to Guy Miner’s UR Video about Lightweight bullets in the .308, and a friend of mine who goes by KY221 on the ‘fire (who is a complete .308 nut by the way) testing the lightweights in his .308, I decided to do a bit of my own experimenting.
My .308 has been used to take several...
I just sold several guns that had been languishing in the safe. I hated to do it but sometimes the best thing to do is to simplify. Plain truth of it is, there is even more fat that could be cut but for now I will forbear.
I may have mentioned this before Guy but that is one gorgeous Model 70...
Those A-frames are the real deal. A buddy of mine bought some of the 275 grain .338 caliber bullets and loaded them in his Win Mag years ago. We clocked them going 2300 fps with a max load of whatever powder we had. Watched him pile drive a coyote with one WAY out there. The bullet went clear...
