Jump starting reloading again, a buddy called that he has some bull nilgai on a friend's ranch that his buddy wants to get rid of because one of them killed 2 buffalos, did not ask what happened. Anyways, I have some 200 Accubonds stashed and I only have half a pound of RL 22 and RL 26 which was my favorite, but I have about 3-4 pounds of H1000 and H4831, since i will have enough ammo loaded up after testing. Have you guys been happy using H1000 / H4831 in the 300 Win Mag with the 200 grain pills? First time I like to try Hodgdon powders in the 300 Win Mag and its pretty temp stable as well.

Do you have any H4350, if you do, give it a try…

As far as H1000 or H4831, my God, I think you have two of the better powders made for that case and 200’s.

H1000 is named so, because of 200 grain bullets and winning old school matches at 1000 yards in the 300 Win…. You’ve got all you need to get it done. And done well.

Yup I have H4350, but saving it for my 6.5 Creed, its the only powder the Creed loves.
I should get about 2900 -2950 fps with the H1000 / H4831, its all it needs to spank those bull nilgai. Last I used the 200 ELD X on a cow nilgai at about 3,080 fps / RL 26 and was not too happy with it on shoulder bone where it shattered one side and fragmented in the lungs. Unlike the AccuBond which is able to do a lot better on bone and more penetration. .

You’ll be in good shape with either powder TD.. That 200 AB is hard on animals.

All good choices.

72 grs of R22 with 200 AB was “plenty” of medicine for my moose. Recovered a perfectly mushroomed bullet bullet in the offside with the skin having hung onto it.

You should have a load worked up quickly with the Jose powder choices. ( In my rifle I got a load submoa fairly quickly and didn’t torture myself trying to get the last 1/4” out of the group; course a 7 3/4 lb scoped 300 WM does that to you) 😂

Does your buddy have any more nilgai he wants to get rid of? ;)

Good luck on your hunt! The AccuBond should do well and yes, H 1000 is a fine powder for that.

I wonder if you will recover the expanded bullet from just under the off-side hide? The Accubonds seem to do that often.
