Congratulations!
The 35 Whelen is my game plan when I wear out my 3006.
I like big bores. I’d happily take a 35 up against bear, elk, you name it.
Congratulations on the first deer, nicer it’s a handload.

Brian, since you mentioned 85gn SGK HP, which I happen to be fond of as well. My record with it is 5 DRT, and the 6th made it 45 yards… the only difference was the 6 the bullet exited. The other 5 only had entrance wounds.
On this big buck… did the 85gn exit?

SGK HPBT 85...
My son dropped a typical michigan 8 pt
Chasing a pair of does over a rye field.
DRT. 300 WM NAB 180gn at roughly 3000 fps. High double lung and clipped the bottom of a vertebra on the way by.

Hilarious. That’s what I’m after. They were gone. Thank you for posting. Been watching about two weeks and thought they didn’t post on weekends… maybe it sells out faster on the weekend. Thank you again!

I have a slotted drum with a speed control. Brass loads through the slot and falls out through the slot.
You want 650f for a temperature on the neck. Tempilaq melts at 650f.
I used it for a while, but it seems you see that little flame color change about the same time. So I’ll eyeball it...
I figured I’d just work it up like a new load. I am typically backing off from max loads already. Not into pushing hand guns…

I was in an LGS and got 1000 LPP. Owner says he only uses magnum primers in his pistol handloads…
Is anyone here using magnum pistol primers on 45 acp, I’m typically loading 800-900 FPS with 230gn ball bullets.
I’ve generally used Federal or CCI large pistol primers.
Saw a comment on midway...
Congratulations! Nice to spend time with the kids. Her smile says a lot. She was glad she got the buck and glad her dad was there with her.

Primers is a great example. Expensive and several thousand can fit in a can in their OEM packaging unless they are federal.

Behr’s Cans., not bear cans(55 gallon drums). Talkin 1 gallon cans.
Just primed some drywall and painted it.
Big surprise, the can was Polypropylene, recycle symbol PP 5.
They clean up really good.
Certainly water tight.
Considering cleaning up a pile of them and using them to store things...
