Finally was able to take the new 6.5 x 284 to the range and try out those 143 ELD-X, seems to be a good shooter. 3 shots@100 Wished I had some Ballistic Tips or Accubonds to try.

How many grains?TackDriver284":1b9m9d17 said:Thanks guys, H4831SC is the best powder I've used in my old and new 6.5 x 284, its not a fast powder, but its very stable and consistent. Chrono recorded 6 fps ES between 3 rounds.

It's 48.5 grains H4831SC and I believe I am in the slow node and I do have room for more, haven't checked for maximum pressure yet. I calculated my Quickload with burn rate and OAL and pressure is real low. It was my first trip to the range. I'm going to load up individual rounds in .4 grain increments to find max velocity soon. The Nosler loading website shows H4831SC as the slowest of the bunch with the 140 grain class. I have some IMR4831 to try and I'm staying away from Reloader 19 and 22.
The 6.5 X 284 is meant to be pushed fast and I'm going to find it. Hopefully get it close to the 3000 fps mark, if pressure allows.
What speed are you guys getting with the 140 grain bullets?
H4831sc I'm at 49.5TackDriver284":3q1jxq1u said:seokladuckin":3q1jxq1u said:How many grains?TackDriver284":3q1jxq1u said:Thanks guys, H4831SC is the best powder I've used in my old and new 6.5 x 284, its not a fast powder, but its very stable and consistent.
