thanks, it handles the 55 grain nosler BT fine but not the 53 grain Vmax which is abit longer. Frank asked if my dad wanted a quick twist way back then but he was not a target shooter so stuck w std twist. The 80 grain Sierra was new back then and Frank was already building rifles for it...
That is encouraging. Thanks Fotis!
I will let you know how it does. (If I can dope the wind anyway).
PS I looked up how Varget did with the 175 grain Barnes Match Burners which I have been using at 1,000 yards. 41.5 grains gave me 2630 fps with WW brass and Federal primer. 43.5 grains was...
Is anyone loading this bullet in 308 winchester?
the Hornady manual shows only 2500 fps from a 24 inch barrel. Lapua and even Winchester brass lasts alot longer than the Hornady and I wonder if that is why the relatively low velocity?
Id like to try these at 1000 yards at Horse Ridge and be...
I inherited a 22-250 Ackley improved built by Frank Glenn in Arizona from my late father, who lived near Frank and got to be buddies.
This is a 26 inch medium/sporter weight stainless barrel, 1-14 twist, but I forget who made the barrel. McMillan stock. This dates back to the first nosler...
I vote for the 125 grain accubond. You can get 3100 fps from a 20 inch barrel with winchester 748. It is the accuracy load in the nosler manual and shoots clover leafs or even tighter in my 20 inch remington 40X. It shoots 2 inches higher with same windage from my 175 grain reloads.
Ive even...
I purchased a Sig Kilo and am blown away how good it is for the price. I was ranging on small steel targets at 1240 yards, hand held, using the scan and best settings which dampen out hand shake. Cliffs and trees at 1600 plus. Houses and cell towers at up to 2200. Hard to find anything it...
I have hand loaded alot of the 75 grain Hornady for my 16 and 20 inch long barreled AR15's. These were moly coated but no faster than a copper only jacket. The Hornady manual is absolutely correct in stating you can get 2850 fps from a 20 inch with BLC-2 and 2,900 fps with CFE223. this from...
FOTIS,
that is quite the varmit gun you have there!
If the 250 grain does not kill the rock chucks, 113 grains of slow burning powder sure will!
Jeez, what a combination!
For serious 1,000 yard the 115 grain in 6mm, for hunting and 1000 yard either 123 or 140 in 6.5.
You cant go wrong with the 6.5.
Ive shot the 6mm some in a Tubb 2000 but it is a pain to reload for compared to the 6.5, and I have never been impressed with performance of a 6mm on deer sized...
I thought the Forum members would like to know of Bills passing.
Here is a link to the founder of bonded core hunting bullets.

I am not sure I would consider windows 10 an improvement over 7.
Its alot like using a smart phone. Windows will take over alot of your choices about what programs to install on your desktop. They are not even called programs, they are apps.
You can unistall it within 30 days. I did...
Thank you for plugging in the higher pressure loads from top down.
I will probably run close to NATO pressures.
I am currently using just 35-37 MOA elevation (depending on temperature) to get on at 1,000 yards and would like to duplicate that as closely as I safely can.
I will let you all...
Thank you very much.
That is very helpful.
I have had trouble controlling OCL with RL15 and Varget and see that 748 and CFE should provide a little bit more leeway since they are below 100% density at similar velocity and pressure.
I will let you all know how I do.
I am willing to give up...
Wyo,
Would you do me a favor and run the 77 Nosler CC in 556 for me using TAC and XBR, also from a 20 inch barrel?
203-B is available now at Sportsman's Warehouse so I can try all three powders. Maybe H4895 also.
thanks!
Thanks for the prompt reply!!!!
Can you run that for a 20 inch?
Usually about 110 fps difference?
I dont know how they got to 2,900 fps!!!!
This looks like Mk262 velocity range which is what I would expect.
Does Quickload have Norma 203-B in its data base?
I wanted to work up a load for the 556, Wylde chamber if available, 1:8 twist, using CBC brass and 77 grain Nosler CC or SMK.
I have had best luck in semi autos with the Remington 7 1/2 primer which is hot but not as hot as the military CCI...
Yes, it was listed as NATO, not SAMMI pressure and a NATO chamber.
Id be very happy to match my 77 grain CBC ammo's velocity with the SMK, 2835-2870 fps from a 20 inch!
This is the result I got at Horse Ridge using the 77 grain SMK. (Not the Tipped). CBC 77 grain ammo which is somewhat faster than I can reload it.
Actual 1,000 yard DOPE for 77 grain CBC from 20 inch barrel at 50 degrees F. 2834 fps average.
100 yds 0.0
200 1.25
300 3.25
400 6.0 – 7.0...
