I have no reservations about the capability of the 270 Win on elk. I bought my wife a Savage 110 Ultralite in 270 Win last summer and found some Hornady ammo with the 140 SST bullet. They shot really well sighting it in, but unfortunately she wasn't able to get a shot at a bull elk. I'm trying...
I have a WBY Vanguard Sporter 30-06. I found these recipes to work awesome with this particular rifle:
All 3 shot groups at 100M.
180AB
55.5gn of H414
Fed GM210M Primer
COL (from base to tip) 3.39"
Nosler brass trimmed to 2.48"
AVG 5 shot Velocity: 2823FPS
I also have a load for the 180ET
Fed...
I was happy when I was told this at our local Sportsman's Warehouse. The buy out of Cabela's turn out local Cabela's into a clothing store that sells some hunting, camping products.
I initially got into it by loading my own 12ga ammo due to shooting skeet, trap, and walking sporting clays while I was stationed at then Vandenberg Air Force Base (Now it's Vandenberg Space Force Base). It then evolved to loading for my 44 and 45ACP and finally loading for my rifles...
My spike elk on the game trailer I built. Used my 300RUM w/200gn ABs. The game trailer worked great with one minor design flaw, which has now been fixed. The trip from camp to where I shot was a 12 mile round trip.
Talley ring/mount set-up has been great on 338RUM. I initially started out with Leupold 2pc standard mounts/rings, but the recoil of this gun destroyed the rear standard mount and ring. After reading about a few of you using Talley products, I went looking on Midway's website and found a set of...
About the only thing I'm OCD about it, ensuring the components I use while loading ammo are exactly the products I plan on using. No other powder, primers, brass or bullets are on the bench.
And in regards to another post about grabbing the wrong rifle is why I won't have two rifles that are...
It's because the tips of the 165ABs are bent.
Copy and pasted from SPS.
Nosler Trophy Grade 308 Win 165 Grain AccuBond (BLEM) - 20ct
Loaded with a AccuBond 165 Grain Spitzer Bullet and Nosler Cartridge Brass.
This ammunition is loaded with a 165 grain AccuBond bullet with a BENT TIP. This...
Here's my 30-06 load for my WBY Vanguard sporter.

Nosler brass trimmed to 2.48"
55.5gn of H414
Fed GM210M primer
COL: 3.390"
Muzzle velocity is around 2823 FPS
I've been searching for a light weight rifle for her for a few weeks. She currently has a Savage Axis II Hardwoods in 6.5 Creed, but it weighs in at a little over 8lbs with the scope. She's a breast cancer survivor, but the chemo treatment has totally screwed her body up. It triggered several...
I use H322 in my 204. I use HDY 32gn V-Max bullets and brass. (only thing available when I bought it as that cal. was just released). My recipe is: 27gn H322, GM205M primer, brass trimmed to 1.84", OAL (base to bullet tip) 2.32". I have a Savage 12FV with a 26" barrel and get right at 4000 fps...
About the same as last year. Spend 2 weeks looking for mule deer and antlered elk, but with one major change. My wife got us permission to hunt on some private property which also allows us to cross through said property to access some public land that is surrounded by private property. This...
Exactly what I did when I first got into loading my own ammo, religiously checked SPS multiple times a day for bullets. I only check it periodically now as I'm well stocked for the calibers I have.
I highly recommend Davis Tent & Awning.
I've had their tent since 2006. If you take care if it, it'll last a life time. Ensuring the tent is 100% dry before storing it is critical.

Congrats to your Bride, Jim.
I have the M48 Liberty in 30 Nosler. Currently, I'm using Nosler Trophy Grade ammo with the 180AB and will eventually develop a load for it. I scored big time 2 years ago and was able to get five boxes of Nosler TG 180AB ammo from MidwayUSA for $36 a box. I would go...
