Went back and shot groups with the 120gr ttsx and the leverevolution. 50gr was about an inch but dang are they screaming at 3292fps avg! This is my new go to load in my 7mm08. I might play with seating depth on it but I haven’t seen much difference with that in the past in this rifle for some...
I dialed in my 75gr load today. 27gr and 27.2gr of Leverevolution had the same avg velocity for 5 shots and the groups are also very close minus the one which could have been me? Not sure what happened there. Probably settle on 27.1gr.
Next, I’d like to try the 53gr Vmax and if my 9 twist will...
Guys, I get it. Don't lump all Californians into the "woke, liberal, crazy pile". There is a HUGE swath of California that's as far right as it gets, but we're just along for the ride on the crazy train because of the gigantic population of woke, liberal dems in LA, SF and Sacramento....
I say that only because of availability but also not "temp stable" I don't think? I suppose the "availability" could be said about my go to H1000 though as well...
Keep us posted. I'm watching for your results. Interested in lrt and staball HD. 7828 is pretty good but might be a little fast for 180s. RL25....pass...lol
Worst case, you can use a neck turning tool to cut the ring off without really getting into the neck. I've seen what you're describing and I haven't had any problems with it. Usually the chamber neck is oversize enough that there is plenty of clearance but it's smart to keep a close eye on it...
I thought I loved my .243, and then I got a 7mm-08...lol. The one job the .243 does better and really well is varmint duty with 55gr bullets at 4000fps+! The 7mm-08 doesn't play that game.
Here's how I do it, start at min and go up in 1/2gr increments until you find pressure signs. Then you can back off a half grain or full grain and work back down with some 3 shot groups a few 1/2 grain steps. With this process you know that you're getting the most velocity with that combo and...
7prc is OK, but it's not a game changer imo. Doesn't fit a short action and doesn't do anything in a long action that I'm not already doing with a 7mm rem mag. The 6.8 western is a good concept and so is the 6.5 prc. I'd actually like to see something like a 7mm western, yes....7mm wsm, but...
I also have not been a huge fan of Varget in my 7mm-08...or anything really. I stumbled across a decent load with A2495, 120gr....not a screamer but I was punishing a rock at 250 yards with it.
Did you miss the drama when King Biden was doing his best to get everyone to get vaccinated or else fired? Well Hornady is a government contractor and they told all of their employees to either get vaccinated or else be fired by decree of the king. Someone leaked the internal memo from Hornady...
Hornady but I haven't forgotten the Vaccine mandate stunt....they almost lost me and I'm still on the edge. Which really stinks because they have a good product at a good price.
Trust me, I get it. I'm just lucky enough to be in a position where I'm not quite living paycheck to paycheck anymore. I feel bad for young adults now without any skills, but they have the same gov funded, entitled college degree that everybody else has and about 0 chance of being able to afford...
Everything used to be "cheaper". $35 was probably a pretty decent sum when you're making $10/hr. Inflation is a constant push and pull between wages and cost of goods...
LOL...H1000 is my go to for 105gr in .243 and 140gr-180gr in my 7mm Rem mag. Absolutely not a fad imo and in fact, it's more like the gold standard.
What about it disappointed you?
I drop mine in water. Brass doesn't quench harden so it does not change the hardness. Interestingly enough, brass does age harden as well as work harden which we all know. I'm at about 3 seconds with .223 brass, bigger stuff might be 5 or 6 seconds. When the flame changes, that's the zinc...
