I just bought a T/C Encore XT, and I am interested in the Hornady FBP bullets because I live in Colorado. I have been shooting a Hawken with a Green Mountain 1-60 barrel for years with 90 gr of ffg or pirodex under a round ball. However this year it rained a bit as you may have seen on the news...
Has anyone turned a .375 300 gr. Accubond loose on a big mean critter yet. I am interested in the results before I start the process of working up a load. Bear, Moose ect.
Jon
I started the NAB thread and shoot both. I took a medium size moose about 1100 lbs. in 2011 at just under 100 yards with a 250gr partition from my 338 rum. He went about 25 yards and piled up. It went in on the last rib, broke the offside shoulder and stopped under the skin. It passed through...
I ordered some Berger bullets from the Extreme Store about two weeks ago, they sent the wrong ones, right caliber. Well I called them, and they could not have been better about it. After they determined what had happened, which took about 15 minutes, they called me back and sent the proper...
Well they are about to turn Colorado into an eastern suburb of California. I left CA in 1998 where I was born and raised, in the central valley, in some of the finest bird hunting anywhere in the world. Now I only return for weddings and funerals, and Colorado is about to be unfit for free...
Everyone has their own ideas, but I have had great results with 59.5grs of H 4831 SC, and a 130 gr Partition's and accubond's as well, without even moving the die. I get about 3010fps and about ¾ in at 100 yards. It will stop any mule deer in Colorado. I think it would be fine for bigger game...
Thanks, I called Berger and they don’t have any data either. They said to use data for the Sierra match king. I have not bought any yet. The Bergers are $87 for 100 less than Partitions but still a lot to try some. I have never been able to get my rum to shoot better than moa at 100 yards and...
Thanks for the data it will get him started. I am on the road and don’t have my books with me, and the data listed online is a bit incomplete.
Thanks
Jon
Does anyone have any data for the 375 h&h and rl15. I am going to help a friend start reloading, he has 260 gr partitions with rl 15. This is what they set him up with where he bought his press.
Thanks
Fwood
I went to the range today and shot the 338 win, 338 rum, and 35 whelen. I was shooting factory ammo out of the 338 win, and 35 whelen, I chronographed them just to see where they stack up with advertized velocities.
The 35 whelen was Double tap 250 gr. It went through the trap at 2587 ave...
Well I finally got out to the range and I was only able to get some Hornady 200gr SST ammo in 338 win. I live in a small town and don’t yet have dies for this gun. I stuck with the cheap theme and put a Burris 3-9x42 scope on it, and it shoots great. It shoots about ¾ of an inch at 100 off the...
From what I can tell it was made in 1973 I am not sure what a “flat bolt” is as I am not a ruger guy. All in all it sounds like it might be a find.
Jon
I feel like a bear in a salmon stream, I don’t need any more but I just bought another one? A Ruger m77 338 win, made in the 70s near new condition, and very cheap. I hope it shoots, leupold will be happy again.
This is the only ruger i have, All the other rifles i have are Remingtons.
