All is well. Most of us pronounce Varget like "target."
When it first started getting popular with match shooters using the 308, some folks called it "Var Gay" - good grief...
It's a mighty fine powder for many applications, no matter what folks call it.

Ya, at short range, shooting for the shoulder, I'd prefer the Partition or the Accubond. Or the E-Tip for that matter.
I've happily used the Ballistic Tip from the 6mm Rem, 25-06 Rem, 308 and 30-06, but for tough chores like busting a shoulder at close range, I prefer a tougher bullet.

H 4350 and the 6.5 Creedmoor go very well together. StaBall Match is another good one, as is Varget. N 555 is another excellent choice.
Interesting that your rifle has a 1:9 twist rate, I believe most 6.5 Creedmoor rifles are twisted a little faster at 1:8. Shouldn't make any difference with...
Heck of a story about a good man. Thanks for sharing your memories of him.
Am sorry for your loss. And am impressed that you keep that fired case still.
All the best! Guy
Today it's called "Saddle Rock" - the native people call it "Two Bears Fighting." It is above my home. It's a short but tough hike. I've stood between those rocks many times over the last 30 years. I'll stand there again.
It's supposed to be two bears, a black bear and a grizzly, fighting. In...
Two young fellows were hunting near me this morning with a young pup. One of them got a pheasant, and he was using a Stoeger over & under, a 20 gauge I believe. He said that he really liked the gun. It looked nice, nearly new I'd think. His buddy had a Mossberg over & under.
I'm really fond of...
Maverick and I took a walk up a canyon not far from town this morning. He found a pheasant and the old Remington 32 brought it down handily. We're both pretty pleased about that!
Happy Guy & Maverick right now. Happy Thanksgiving all.
Although I've still got some heavy kickers, like the 45-70 Marlin and the 375 H&H Ruger Number One... I have to admit a preference for rifles that don't kick all that hard. This isn't new for me, but as I've aged, I'm gaining even more appreciation for lighter-recoiling rifles.
Am growing as...
The 30-06, 165's, and H4350 are a terrific combination! If you load to the top of Hodgdon's charts, 2900 fps can be easily exceeded. Excellent accuracy can also be achieved.
I look at the recommended 3.340" cartridge length as a guide. You'll find what works best for your rifle, for...
Long ago I used 105 grain Speer bullets from my 6mm Remington. They shot great! Was shaped more like a "semi-spitzer" as I recall. Could be wrong. That was 1970's and 1980's.
Still have quite a few Nosler 95 grain Ballistic Tips for the 6mm Rem, and some 100 gr Partitions as well. They've both...
Funny how that "range" stuff works out. Probably my shortest range muley was at about 20 yards, with my 25-06 which was set up for 400 yard shots... :) However some of my rifles are absolutely at their best at modest ranges.
Like Dale/Filmjunkie, I've got a traditional 50 cal cap lock muzzle...
It is a beautiful area, the northwest in general is: Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, western Montana, British Columbia... The combination of ocean shores, big mountains, big rivers and lots of public land... Pretty sweet area.
Washington's politics keep going farther and...
Congrats!
I got some good accuracy from the 140 TGK from my 6.5 Creed a couple of hundred fps slower than your PRC. Didn't get a shot at game though.
